Warhammer Online..... The end of Daoc??

Ello my fellow roleplayers and ofc Daoc players...i ve been playing Daoc for almost 2years now and i like it alot.... tho i am not the kind of person that is narrow minded but i like to think myself as some1 that is open to all kind of suggestions and challenges... so when i said i like it alot i mean that its not the only mmo that i have played... i have also tested LineAge2 uke: and WoW and when i mean tested... i mean that i was on that shit for a couple months....but u see nothing was like Daoc...so was pretty sure that if i was going to play a mmo that would be Daoc and only Daoc.... but beyond Daoc i play many (not online) games... like MTG , Legend of the Five Rings, D&D the pen and paper game and ofc Warhammer the Fantasy World (the tabletop game) ..... but above all i have choosed Daoc for my online game hours... and Warhammer for all the others game hours... i have spended more than 4k euros on the game ( i have a 4000points of Lizardmen and 4500points of Bretonnians for those that r familiar with the game) and when i can gather the rest we like playing for hours .... or some times for days... we talk for epic battles not jokes... today i got an email from Mythic that i will get an acc for the beta... and i though ..... OMFG its true... Warhammer is inc... and then i ve contact all my friends to notify them about the incoming challenge... all said that bloody yes we will play the game..... but then i though... and what about daoc? I have spended too many hours on the game and i love it/like it ALOT but it didnt took a second though to think if about it when i saw the email.....Therefor i am REALLY afraid that , that might be the end of Daoc for me... ofc i will test the game and judge if its good or not like i did with the other games.... but my worst fear is ... that it would be based on Daoc cause of the same company ( MYthic) but with Warhammer chars/story/background/races etc etc etc etc... so imagine it a epic battle online and u be part of it....
I will end my longggggggg longggggggg bla bla bla now with a last question....
who else think that this MIGHT be the end of Daoc.... ?
I dont wanna see replies like " i will quit Daoc cause it sucks or cause rl problems.." only for the reason i mention above.....

P.s : Ppl who r familiar with the game will notice that 2 of my Chars in the sig have names from Warhammer.... (tho the 1 name u must be a Lizardman player u notice it )

I imagine daoc will still go on after warhammer is released - whether the games will be similar enough that warhammer is effectively a "daoc 2" or whether it'll be different enough for people to prefer one to the other who knows.

As is Everquest after release of Everquest 2

The real issue for DaoC is that it does need a large'ish player base to sustain the rvr element and while I know that isn't why everyone plays it is certainly a major factor is people making 400 alts...

I think DAOC will go on for quite a long time yet. Warhammer will cause an inevitable surge of players rushing out of the game, but it will need to have an even-further-improved RVR system to make people leave DAOC for good.

I've been following the progress of this game for a while now and it all sounds very nice, based around rvr (allience, green skins and choas) i think it will be a huge kick in the nuts for daoc since it will probably be using the same sort of rvr system apart from the magic which will be warhammer based.
Although WH is mainly goign to be based around huge battles so i would imagine if ppl wanted to stick with so called 8 vs 8 battles they would stick to Daoc, if they like huge scale warfair they will goto WH.

If they stick the the concept of the Warhammer games, it should be a nice game.

I always thought a nice ending for daoc would be that the border guards could be killed and people could invade the other realms.

Once they have taken towns in the other realm they host the banners of the new realm. This would continue untill one realm has full control of all 3 ralms and is named victorius.

The battle for the capital citys could be pretty epic

Agreed, people predict the demise of DAoC with every mmorpg. However, this (WHo) is the first game to have the same RvR focus... and Mythic are doing it...

Do any of you really think they won't use everything that makes DAoC RvR so good, use it and build on it?

Basically you will just have to wait and see. One thing is for sure; Dark Age won't die after they bring out Warhammer.

And to the one that said that opted groups that like 8 vs 8 might stay to Dark Age as Warhammer will be a game with hordes vs. hordes, I still think that there will be some sort of way to combind some certain classes followed by a similar effect as Dark Age. Dark Age was brought to the gamers basically the same as Warhammer is brought. Big scale fights on enormous battlefields, though later on people went for the FG vs FG thingy.

I'm just hoping the game will bring me back towards the beginning of Dark Age. New, fresh and full of things to explore. Dark Age was my first real MMO, so I guess I'll never get to that kind of satisfaction from a game again. I'll just have to hope.

I still remember my first day of RvR for example. Going out to the Midgardian outskirts to try and defeat those evil Midgardians with my overpowered level 17 Enchanter, having specialised in like all three different paths of magic. Hell, it took me like a week orso to find out that the PBAOE-spells were really efficient.

Aye they predicted that this game would die when the Sinclair ZX Spectrum ceased production but it's still here 15 years later

Mythics Warhammer Online is in the planning stage. There are no movies or screnies. The movies you've seen is a closed down project that never happened.

I have very high expectations to the game. Too high probably.
Though I try not to look too much forward to it as its so far away. :\
