I think it's very decent of you to go the extra bit for the homes. tbh I get blasted out of bed by an alarm that sounds a bit mid-way between a drill sound and a harsh bleeping: BRRRRRRRRRwheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
this tends to shock the heck out of me ensuing that I arrive at the first coffee of the day in a proper state of wanting to my management at workies to joust with blowtorches.

as the article states, this usually isn't a really good idea: it's better to ease yourself back into the waking world (a bit like Big G does with the lamp). me being me, the lamp wouldn't work (so I think) as I am a pretty heavy sleeper. something less polite but still soft and fluffy is required!

I have to admit, I used to use my TV as an alarm clock and even though the in-built timer decided, from time to time, to jump through a time warp during the night and wake me up 45mins-1hour earlier than I asked, it still woke me up much feeling better than my mobile's alarm.

Once I sort out some coax for the aierl I think I'm go back to my method.
