Tekken 4 > all (not the piss slow UK version mind), although it's a shame they didn't fix the tracking bugs

I'm not saying Soul calibur is a bad game btw, its definately top 3 or so imo, just its more of a button bash / look at the flash graphics than tekken or mk

lastly, mk5 does deserve a chance in spite of the previous games :/

edit: stu, is there a significant difference between NTSC and pal versions of t4?

It's not the refresh rate.. not afaik anyway. It's actually the game speed, it runs about 25% faster, play a us/jap t4/t3/ttt/t2 (dunno about tekken 1) and then play a UK one, you'll feel like the characters are fighting in invisible treacle.

I'm actually enjoying MK: DA - the ability to switch styles (quickly as well) adds a whole new huge dimension to it.

As cage said, it definitely has a lot of polish - it looks and feels like a game that could take a great deal of playing time to completely unlock.

Steve is the choice of button-bashing newboids. And refresh rate has nothing to do with it. Jappo Tekken is about 30% faster than UK. UK ver is just an embarrassment, you can spot pretty much any move coming a mile off. Considering there are combos in T4 that require frame-perfect inputs, the shitola UK speed is a total waste of time. Thinking about it, if you play the UK ver, I guess Steve might not be such a totally cheap option.

Big juggle combos are lamut - look at Killer Instinct. You can walk away from the machine and get some more tokens once someone kicks off a "quarter circle towards, quarter circle away + random buttons" Ultra Hit 582 hit combo.

There are a number of very nasty combos in T4, especially with Kazuya (who Im told by friends I play it with is "too powerful").

MK: DA looks like its got the right balance from what I can tell at the moment. I've mastered a ten hit combo with Scorpion, but it doesn't do a stupid amount of damage, and is pretty hard to do.. like T4 really.

what ive noticed with mkda is if you use the same move repeatedly in a combo it just stops doing damage

the characters seem to be pretty equal too, which is nice. perhaps scorpion / kung lao / sub-zero (impale lamer) are a touch ahead of the rest, though :>

I didn't know about the speed diff in UK t4, I bought it on the weekend of release without reading much beforehand :<
