They already allow Vista Enterprise users to install 4 copies of Vista in virtualised environments, it would just be nice it they extended or changed it in some way. Maybe they should've included some XP/Vista virtualised licenses with Vista Ultimate - then more professional users would go for it instead of saving money on the Home Premium edition.

I'm using Virtualbox for various bits of virtualisation, but the sad thing for MS is that instead of using Windows in virtualised machines I'm using Ubuntu and various other operating systems to test. Without the ease of use of having licenses for old operating systems included with Vista, we're going to face more people who love virtualisation but don't care about MS being virtualised.

One rumour at the moment going round is to make Windows itself perform better than previous versions, which is an acknowledgement of Windows own bloated weight. The problem is that all recent versions of Windows have become bloated and the next version has always had the claim that it was going on a diet which so far hasn't happened, I get the feeling it has come from the limitless boundaries of increasing space and power in hardware terms.

The reality is that Windows is only meant to be a layer between your hardware and your software, if we were looking at this in terms of house building then Windows should be the cement inbetween the bricks but now the cement in the Windows house is taking up as much space as the bricks which isn't an ideal way to build a house :)

Whenever I've bought a machine from a company I do a complete reinstall for the simple fact it gives me the OS the way I want it, I'll stick enough shit on there myself without the company who sold me it adding their layer.
