All,

I was looking at a slightly dodgy website and got infected with a virus. My relevant setup is:

Windows 7 (64 bit)
Latest AVG, up to date definitions
Spybot S&D

Firstly, the virus seems to spam messages such as "SATA / IDE issue, please restart" and when you restart all your files look like they have disappeared (shat myself) but they are actually all hidden.

Any advice on how to remove it? AVG didn't detect anything and Spyware S&D didn't remove it.

Oh, worth noting Spybot S&D partially removed Windows Repair which was automatically installed (the fake 'your PC is fucked' software) and the hidden folders are related to this.

Malwarebytes uber alles. Fixed every major problem any of my clients have had.

Aye seemed like a good tool. There is a good guide on the following link on removing this shit including a couple of additional tools to sort it:

Remove Windows Repair (Uninstall Guide)

It's my own fault for looking up "Wij Trem TdC Lucky Pierré" tbh :(.

2 things I forgot:
1) AVG is shit, use MS Security Essentials
2) Spybot S&D hasn't been any good imho for about 5 years.

I still think in my experience that SuperAntiSpyware is better than MalwareBytes

It does, you leave MSSE running constantly and just run Super when you want to be certain or if you have a problem.
