I wonder how long it will take someone [sarcasm]important[/sarcasm] to make that connection, and take the whole "it was movies/music/games that made him do it" argument to the next level.

It seems they are go after writing not games for change. :p

It's in bad taste. If you liked it.. well that's your issue you need to deal with. You're not duty bound to pass on the link though. I think a lot of people are tiring of the "ooh let's be edgy and make jokes about the tsunami/twin towers/school shooting" type mentality that took over the internet for a while.

I don't know where you got this but with every Suicide bombing comes a video form a fanatic group and they have all pretty much said the same thing. Get your troops out of the holly land.

I have never even seen anything suggesting it is because the new goverment are commiting Genocide. And as we have established that the press here only prints what will sell news papaers i think one hint of the new goverment doing the same thing we slapped Sadam for and it would be all over the papers as that is what sells them.

actually in The Independent last friday, or may have been on saturday i'm not too sure, while reporting the change in tactics issued by george dubya, they briefly mentioned the slaughter of (iirc) 19 shi'it civillians at the hands of sunni police officers after a insurgent attack led to the deaths of some family members of the sunni police officers. The police officers went to the neighbouring town and simply murdered with single shots to the head anyone they suspect of being involved or being a relative of anyoen they suspectedof being involved.

the punishment? not much if i recall they simply had a 3 month suspension or something and are back on the force. This happened a while ago but received no media coverage until recently and even then it only received a small article.

(i may have got shi'it and sunni mixed up in this case in termsof who was murdered and who did it, but either way they were police officers of the state).

People have always made jokes about such things, the medium just changed and if you don't like it, you can always switch off your internets. :m00:

Oh and I am certainly not duty bound to protect people on the internet from their own sensitivities.

So you Deal with it. :m00:

Mojo it was just a bit soon to do such a joke. Every good haha maker knows that you take a moment before making fun of things, like the 9/11, london bombs, now is perfectly fine to do so .

You know what, I sat here and pondered for a day (saw this first yesterday) Like I said earlier, I am not duty bound to protect people, I found it funny (especially as I read it with my comedy Asian accent) what do you regard as an appropriate time frame anyway? If you are going to get in a completely inappropriate post then the sooner the better IMO

You either post such things or you don't, time frame I think is irrelevant, so I posted it based on the understanding that it would offend some regardless of how long I left it. If people don’t find it funny after 4 days but funny after 4 weeks what does that say about those people?

Weell, i'll let those people answer.

Just always thought that giving it an appropriate amount of time was necessary. That probably boils down to individuals, and lastly the mods in here, to say what it is.

I don't mind it, just thought i'd give the heads up of it being a bit too soon.

i think south poark say its atleast 3 years before you can make jokes about a friends death....

took us about 1 hour till we had jokes about the death of our best friend so i guess in reality its whenever you think it fits

Urgh, so tempting to post something which would make my account perma banned... Something along the lines of "what if it was your family etc" but in a non-nice way.

I admit, I laughed at the photo - Just because it's funny. No way in hell is the current shooting funny at all.

Its at times like this people really show their mental age :(

Tbh, I think its mroe grown up to make a joke and try to get over it then sitting in a darkened room and crying.

Look at what happened in 9/11 and in 7/7

The Americans STILL greaive massively over it, yet 2 years on, London has gotten on with life. Yes, people died, yes lifes were wrecked. But its negeative to sit and live in the past.

Look at London in WW2, those pesky Cockneys stuck 2 fingers up and Mr Hitler and they did it again faced with Terrorism.

Last night, Virginia Tech held a vigil for the victims, which WAS needed. What is not needed is that type of mourning happeneing every night till June, because that would be negative. Im sure those that died wouldnt want people to stand around and cry 24/7 about them. They would want the rest of the world to carry on with life.

even worse it gives in to what this gunman wanted, to make an impression and have a far reaching impact in the world when in reality, he was (as it seems to me anyway) a fucked up dickhead that couldnt handle himself or rejection and felt the world owed him something.

Exactly. He wanted to go out with a "bang" and the media are giving him what he wanted.

That is America though!

Where do you think all this "Apologise for slavery" thing came from? Americans

Umm well he is a dickhead that couldn't handle rejection, it's just we now know who he is and what a gimp he was, nothing to be proud of here. I don't think people will be looking up to him just because he is now infamouse. It's not like the publicity he is getting is portrying him in a positive light now is it.
