False. All the lvl 49 pet spell has going for it is a higher value, single target taunt. Effective pet lvl remains the same, whether you cast the lvl 7 pet or the lvl 49. Melee damage also stays the same.

Spell level does matter in pve, but that doesn't matter here.
Ani pets always cast spells that are counted as 2/3 of their own level. So whether that lvl 7 spell lvl pet or that level 49spell lvl pet, both casted by a lvl 50 player, casts it taunt doesn't matter. Both the pets are lvl 44 when they come out and both taunts are treated as lvl 29 spells for resist purposes.
