As title says, they suddenly stopped working, and now my mouse and my MP3 player isn't working. They draw power ok, as light comes on on the devices, but they dont get picked up. In msifno, everything checks out OK.

I've tried disabling USB drives in the BIOS and then re-enabling them after a cold boot.

I've tried booting in safemode, uninstalling all the USB drivers, and then re-installing them after a reboot.

Now however, I'm stumped. I'm abroad until December, so I have no resources beyond the web, ie no disks, so a re-install is out of the question.

It's an ASUS F3F series laptop running XP Home, I don't really care about the MP3 player, but I need my mouse working :/

Hopefully someone will have some idea of how to fix it.

I've had that before caused by a faulty (a batch of faulty) iGod cable, however merely removing the battery & power source for 5 minutes cured it.

Otherwise you've already done the things I'd have suggested :/

Ran the battery diagnostic test, ie charging it to full and then letting it go empty. Then it worked. Thanks.
