Bastard !

Seriously though, even you bike-riding, shotgun-wielding, South American wannabees must be a bit worried about Trump?

I mean, one of the wealthiest men in the US worried about immigration?

Seriously?

I don't think they will win, not with Trump anyway.

The Republicans are just too nuts this time around. People will vote for democrats just as an "anyone but republicans" vote, the same way the Tories get in, anyone but Labour.

You think the Obamacarecrats will get in again?

I don't think so.

Yeah, I do. Trump is a comedy entrant, and its not the first time the GOP has had this kind of start to the nomination campaign; its pretty unlikely he'll be around at the finish (the comparison would Rudy Giuliani in 2008, who was even further ahead than Trump is now, but faded when the party actually started voting), and could end up going independent and splitting the vote. Republican politics is totally fractured.

How come though?

I thought the Democrats were absolutely shattered because of Obama and his extremist socialist views?

Right now, Obama has an approval rating of 46%, which isn't bad for second term president in late office (its a shitload better the W had at the same point, in 2007 the best he could manage was 30%), and the republican majority Congress currently has an approval rating of...14%.

The Republican party seems to keep fucking themselves over with increasingly more ridiculous candidates. I bet a lot of people would like to vote Republican after 8 years of Democrats. People like Trump might be popular with the batshit insane conservative right, but he definitely scares off some people. The democrat candidates don't look that appealing this time either, but all they have to do is not look insane and they'll probably win.

Playing a hilary first woman in power trick might help them too. If she gets the nomination.

If Trump gets the nomination they can kiss goodbye to the White House for another term, as @mooSe_ says, he will only get the crazy vote.

Repubs will win the senate, but lose the presidency.
It's likely Hilary Clinton vs Jeb Bush at this point, with some outlier possibility we see Sanders vs Trump/Carson/Rubio/etc.

Bush is fucking his campaign up, but at some point other candidates will drop out and their support will go to anyonebuttrump. Whether that ends up being jeb, carson, kasich, rubio or other, doesn't really matter, the repub candidate is going to lose.
Remember Romney - at this point the poll leader was changing every few weeks, while the republicans were like "well... we have romney, lets see how we like x/y/z" before they went back to Romney.

Trump is pulling the national front / ukip style vote in the US, it really depends if he can ride out a few wins in the early states then dial down the crazy to actually capture the nomination.
There's no doubt he's by far the most charismatic repub candidate, so there's some small % he could win the nomination, but he's an autoloss in the general.

Interesting how in UK politics FH is generally right-wing but in US politics we lean to the left :)

Yeah it's kinda funny, but the US republicans are batshit insane.

It's more like "lolwtfmeights" and only having the dems as a reasonable option.

Whenever Trump comes up in conversation, I say "I'd vote for him" just to see people's reactions. Most are horrified. Some just want anyone who isn't a Bush or a Clinton.

For now though, only one thing truly matters. The primary elections. Have to be on the ticket, and that means outrageous statements to get media coverage, and Trump is an expert. He can always go back on his opinions later.

I wonder if any of the candidates will mention this sort of stuff or whether it'll be too much of a hot potato because the fossil fuel companies have got legions of retards eating out of their well-obfuscated hands...

To be fair, it's only now we are seeing the real reason behind Climate Change - it is bugger all to do with saving the environment, and all about wealth redistribution. The only problem is, currently all it is doing is redistributing wealth to the richest part of society - subsidies on 100k cars, subsidies for solar panels etc etc.

And the really interesting thing, is that the Climate Change industry, currently valued at $1.5 trillion a year (and only going one way) has its own legions of complicit retards, usually in the media.

However I don't really see it as an election issue, as outside of the BBC and a few well meaning idiots, no one cares about Climate Change. Of all the issues people care about in the world, it is rock bottom.

From my relatives in the usa. Half of them are gun wielding stupid fucks that think trump is good for some reason.

The others love obama and i think will vote democrate. But its interesting to see the sort of people who support the gun laws and the wall off mexico theme still dont see themselves as racist

There is right and there is right.

I think everyone capable should work for a living, I don't think everyone that doesn't bother should be ploughed into a ditch.

Not really - it's well known that politics in general in the States is far to the right of what we have over here.

Gap is narrowing all the time tbh. I think we're much closer to the states than we are to most of Europe.

Yep. The Dems have never had much in common with Labour except during the Blair years.
