Sorry gents but he writes this sentence:

Great building projects and military engagements validate the idea of government itself.

Trump's gone. Sure, there'll be a bad smell in the room for a while - there always was going to be after a four year fart.

But at this point he's not going to be setting new policy any more - and devisive as he was hopefully we can return to a normality where people look at the shit some journalists write and, rather than agreeing because of their intense dislike of a polarising figure, they see clear statements like that and go "hang on mate, you're talking out of your arse".

Just to be clear: war does not legitimise the idea of government.

You've changed a word; "validate" and "legitimise" are not synonyms. Certainly not in the context of this sentence. Whether you like it or not, wars are actually one of the only things that are the gift of governments alone; only governments have a legal right to declare war (its one of the mechanisms for deciding the difference between "soldier" and "terrorist/insurgent/guerilla" etc.), so in O'Toole's thesis its valid to point that someone who doesn't want government wouldn't use one of the defining tools of government if he could avoid it. Personally I also think Trump avoided dealing with the military for personal reasons; they were less easily bullied and he was less confident in dealing with them, and he knew full well they respected the office not the man, which is absolute anathema to him.

I actually thought the article was spot on; the unfulfilled positions and incompetents/hostiles in roles he did bother to fill was the most telling validation of O'Toole's thesis.

Who would have thought it? Trump blocked by the republicans in one of his last 'things' in office.

Personally I agree though, why give everyone $2k?

Lot's of people haven't lost anything, still in work and probably saved on commuting costs/child care costs anyway. More blind borrowing.

Its not everyone only people below a certain income, that said its a stupid band aid that doesn't really do anything useful long term but makes politicians look like they are doing something

Actually - helping fucked people with cash helps all of the economy.

Compare that $2k with other stuff they're spunking shit on. In the big scheme of things printing a couple of thousand dollars for every yank is fuck all.

It will help... For a month, maybe two. Deep structural problems in economy, and way government is run need to be addressed, but neither dems or gop seem to care

He wouldn't want it if he was staying.

Indeed

On his way out his plan is basically

Make things difficult for Biden to fix so he can claim Biden did it all if he runs again

And

Do stuff ALL voters approve of to make him look like a good guy

The sad part? American voters will likely swallow the bollocks like they normally do. Just you watch, if he plans on running again in 4 years, he'll prob win.

I had no idea that Nancy Pelosi is 80 years old.

She looks pretty incredible for 80.

Whether it's for self-preservation or a sense of duty or whatever else, at least Raffensperger isn't rolling over for Trump.

Please show us one single link where remoaners said there was voter fraud.

Just one will do.
