Pfft. I have an AMD Dual Core 64 4200+ 4Gb Corsair DDR2 running in Dual channel and an ok gfx card. ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro 512Mb PCI-E and Vista still runs way too slow.

idd, i run vista on all the computers i have that have reasonable specs for it and it works at least as fast as xp, as well as being more comfortable overall.

edit: access denied, do you use themes and such? like the aero stuff? imo it looks bad and runs worse

Get yourself some nice cheap crucial ram, it'll do the job. Memory upgrades, flash media, and usb storage at Crucial.com - that'll scan your system and then load up the page where you can buy memory compatible for your system.

Nope, installed Vista and ran the basic theme for a week before deciding I like XP Pro more so I formatted and installed that.

You've 4 Ram slots and you can hold 4GB (if you're on 32bit windows xp/vista you'll get anywhere between 3-4gb.

I would buy 2x2gb DDR2 RAM, however use that cpuz link or whatever it was to find out what ram you can use....or, open the case, pull out the RAM (machine switched off) and check to see the little sticker they usually put on.

Or post/google the exact computer name. Then you should most often than not get a link to manufacturer page for that comp, which will say what RAM you can have. RAM is quite cheap now days but if its old ram (i doubt it tho since the comp can hold 4gb) you can always try and find them through ebay etc.
