Help Unlocking a laptop

just got a laptop but its password protected,

basicly my mum works for a housing asociation and when people are evicted all thier shit goes into storage and they have 3 months to collect it or it gets binned, tho if theirs anything decent after the 3 months its up for grabs,


so i got a laptop


but i cant use it, any 1 computer savy enought to talk me through unlocking it?

Best to ask this in the main tech section. I think you may be able to get past it by logging in via safemode. If you can get into the admin account you could possibly create a new profile and delete the current one?

What laptop is it? depending on age, you may be able to re-load it with all the drivers etc stored on a partition

cant you just format it booting from cd thus cirumventing the windows password protection as well as getting rid of all the shit you wouldnt need / shouldnt see anyway

Yeah, does sound a little dodgy breaking the password. The laptop will almost certainly have a restore partition - run that and it'll set it back to factory settings. Find out what make/model the laptop is and I/someone else can find out how you access the recovery partition.

make model is toshiba equium a210-17l

atm when its boots up jsut goes straigth to PW screen no option to set up new users or switch users ect

dont have the CD with it unfortunatly, and on my main pc i run xp not vista

problem with all of these is i ahve to buy/download some dodge software, or be able to create/loginto an account with admin rights

Nah Gohan if it came with a recovery partition you'd turn the machine on, press a key (Maybe F11) and you'd get a menu which would allow you to "Restore to Default Factory Setting" or similar wording.

well hopefully it has, ive tried hitting all the F keys ect but no luck, doesnt give u an option for bios either, dunno if thats jsut a vista thing tho, but when u trun it on just says loading windows no screens with like stats and writing ect

DO you have am operating system disk? if so in BIOS set the DVD/CD drive to first bootup sequence then put the disk in and reboot, you will reinstall the operating system over the top and basically create a new laptop

Do you get a crappy log screen whilst it boots, then it goes to the windows screen? That's usually in the BIOS. ASUS sometimes have that so you have to disable it.

well looks like he's never ever used it tbh

nothing saved no files pictues downloads, factory setting desktops an icons ect

nothing named other than profile, probly passworded it for him in the shop then he never used it


might leave that program on the usb and take it to the next i-series then when my mates fuck off to do somthing change thier passwords
