Because you keep posting about Vance being upset with our freedom of speech.

We shouldn't give a fuck of what Vance thinks about our freedom of speech laws.

I don't. That's your focus.

I'm focussing on the fact that we don't have any freedom of speech laws - we only have an increasing number of laws that put us in prison for saying stuff. 10,000 people arrested a year for social media posts ffs.

I specifically said this:

If US hypocricy means I can celebrate living under a less authoritarian regime in the country I live in then I'll fucking take it

That's not about Vance. That's about freedom of speech in the UK.

You're the one who doesn't want to look at us and tries to make every post about America.

So then.

Looks like Trump is delivering on his immigration promises. And what strikes me about this graph (first time I've seen the figures) - is that it seems clear that the Democrats were lying to the American public about their position on immigration, bringing it down only before the election.

Inflation, energy prices and mortgage rates have also dropped according to the beeb.

The stock market fluctuations are, for me, "meh" tbh, they don't affect real people except those on the very point of retirement, and will resolve themselves over time. (The drop in my portfolio value doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I've not checked it - because we all know it'll go back up.)

It's kind of what the US voters voted for. His approval levels are really low, but they're really high with Republican voters. So it's polarisation more than anything else. Dem's are hurtin' - but then the Democrats delivered dick tbh.

That cynicism had, of course, occured to me too @Ormorof. But you're being disingenuous yourself if you are trying to say the Dem's tried to "do something" and the Republicans aren't and are just lying.

Dems are pro-immigration. Apart from the fact that immigrants are massively more likely to vote for them - 2/3rds vote Democrat, it's just their modus operandi. Despite immigration being a significant concern for Americans.

Sure, but tbh I would take any figures coming out of the current administration with a large bucket of salt. Their modus operandi is lie, priject, obfuscate, about everything and everything so why trust any official figures from the US. Same reason I don't trust official numbers from Russia or China ;)

Yeah, that argument is just fucking weak. We'd trust the Dems not to play shithousery, but not the Republicans eh?

Basically - that's just fingers in the ears denialism and pretty much kills any rational debate here. Any figures, reproduced by anyone (including the Beeb) can be dismissed with "I don't believe them".

Trump lies so much there's an entire Wikipedia article dedicated to the matter ffs. An average of 21 false or misleading statements a day during his first term. How have you *still* got this astonishing blindspot when it comes to him? There's your fingers in the ears denialism.

There was definitely an element of "we don't really care" with regards to border policy during Obama and Biden years. Red states, red problems. And if they eventually became US citizens, they'd be democratic voters. A win-win for democrats, in theory. The red states talk a big talk regarding illegals, but most of their economies are run by their labor. They don't want them becoming citizens because it would flip their counties and states from red to blue.

What's needed is a non-partisan immigration review across the board. Right now, immigration is broken up into many different silos, based on various industries lobbying for what they need. Seasonal agricultural, seasonal non-agriculture visas, specialized professionals, student, country specific, company transfers, etc, etc. Some of these have maximum limits for how long they can stay in the US. Some of these allow a path to residence and citizenship. There's a big need for cheap labor to work the farms, kitchens, factories etc. Instead of these jobs being done by illegals, they need to provide an easy way to get people at the border a visa, a social security number, and a way to get to where the jobs are, and all jobs should lead to residence status.

I don't have a blind spot. I'm playing devils advocate. However, you're all saying there's nothing good going on here and all have a complete blindspot when the democrats achieved nothing and were full of massive shithousery.

I like that Trump is getting a rough ride. I thoroughly dislike the Democrats getting a free ride.

They just announced that Trump has personally saved 258 million lives from fentanyl, but sure let's trust everything they say
