I'm just more intrigued in what he means, because if he is saying what I think he is - the whole toilet issue aside, he's saying that trans people are more or less making a choice to be another sex, whereas homosexuals have not got a choice and they are born that way.

If my interpretation is correct, then I just feel sorry for him, I'm not interested in starting an argument, much like I was not interested in starting such a debate with my Grandparents, It's a different generation, some people are more liberal in these views, and possible more people simply do not understand, and therefore are opposed to it.

Whereas younger people are more accepting as it's a part of society that they're starting to grow up with, and (excuse the Donald Trumpism) trust me, this does not mean that I, dare I say, we, 'accept' everyone who comes out with some new screwed up sexuality, because they haven't found the correct box, however, the numbers/research simply show that transgender is legitimate.

Transgender definition; denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.

So in America there was a documentary recently about a bunch of 8-12 year olds who were coming out as Trans to their parents.

The parents weren't the super liberal type, some accepted, some took a while to accept and a few completely denied it.

Would you say that this is result of liberalism in influential environments, such as schools, saying that it's fine to be anything you want to be, so therefore kids are just picking up on things and saying fuck yeah sounds cool, or is it something they're born with?

Sorry, you're talking bollocks again. Where have I said I am not for trans rights? What I have actually said is that trans people should enjoy all the rights of whatever gender they become, or are going to become.

I have said all these made up sexual orientations are a bag of bollocks, because largely they are. People are free to do whatever they like but not when it infringes other peoples rights, such as the right to privacy and decency.

Actually I think its parents who don't want to be seen as parents, but friends to their kids. Saying no to your kids, especially in the US, is treated like fucking child abuse these days. My 2c, letting kids come out as Trans, or coming out as gay or anything else before they reach puberty, is idiotic, and it doesn't matter if the kids concerned don't like it, they don't like going to bed early or eating their greens either. Tough shit. During and after puberty, different issue altogether, but even then, the best parental counsel is caution, even if the kids don't want to hear it.

As for treating gender assignment like a Baskin-Robbins, I remain sceptical that such assignments are necessary or actually add any value to someone's identity. What exactly is The City of New York supposed to do with the information that a person is "Two-Spirit" anyway?

The wife works with the outside the box kids in a girl school, obviously she has seen a huge increase in trans kids, from pretty well zero to three in a school a thousand girls.
She is the first port of call and immediately has to start a process to ensure their welfare...of course 25 years of experience, she knows bullshitters when she sees them and classes all three as simply the attention seekers they have been since 1st grade.
But she obviously gives them the benefit of the doubt, and they love it, everyone fussing about them, wearing what they like, leaving early and attending late in case of issues in the school run.
Now the school has to let them use the male teachers bathrooms, till they build new genderless ones, obviously the male teachers can't go in at the same time and are down to shouting to see if a 'girl' is in there.
More interestingly all three have now changed their minds after developing teenage hormones.
They also pinched half of her office for a muslim prayer room, for the two girls with muslim parents, they never use it obviously..if they do, it's to skive lessons and go on facebook.
They have to let them use their phones so they can access Islamic scripts.....it does taint you.
