At least, if that's the way you think. And you most likely do as you say it here and only play a stealther.

You have no idea how hard high-end group RvR is.

Hard ? Hmm, maybe that's the difference ... I wouldn't call it 'hard'

And in the end, every game is controlled by moving/clicking your mouse and pressing buttons. But it actually has nothing to do with the gameplay.

<shrug>

other games don't have /face, /stick or Backup-styles ... all tools to make it easier accesible for more people, not only the powergamers. Tradeoff is tho, that you can't claim that it takes a lot of skill to fight.
How many Thrust-Infils were there before Backup-styles were in the game ? Evade-rate wasn't capped like now, but still it were what ? 1 (Derric, or am I mistaken there ?)

If the combat system would be more like in 'Severance - Blade of Darkness', sure, then you could say fighting in this game requires skill.

Maybe you want to tell me what 'great' skill it takes to play this game ?
Maybe it's just that you call 'skill' what I call 'common sense' ?

P.S. Just 'cause I don't list all my Chars doesn't mean I don't have others

could it be the movie capture program? ;p

and I got one new thing for you Fedjakin... just because it's something you don't have there doesn't mean that it's a cheat...

if you know it's a cheatware (or what you should call it) then may I ask you how you know it's a cheatware? ;)

I admit, BDs are good becuase they have all the powers of a caster without the hassle of being inturupted and the fact that its very differcult to die if u have full power.

like today in emain, fg v fg (mids v hibs), i ganked the bard so i got 2 LW heros on.

i won, because the heros did on average 450 dmg to me, and i had 1200 hits with a shaman buff.

but mostly because i had a zerker behind the heros who was ganking em.

comparied to other casters, the insta is low dmg, but this is "balenced" by the fact that i can cast this in combat.

the problem is that mythric buggered this up and made the insta too powerful, so what we have is a caster who every 4 secs can nuke for about the same as the baseline nuke.

(btw, i am sorry to those hibs who tried without luck to kill me, and i'm even more sorry that i ganked the bard before he even cast a spell, and i'm even more sorry to that ranger who i set my pets after and chased you almost to mpk)

hmm, would say those 5 Albs in the end are 4 35ish Albs with a lvl50 guide for the Pennies Mountain tour.
Hard to see but looks like most of them give him only ~400ish RPs.

But do the Lifedrains really use that few power ? :eek7:

normally no, the life drain uses a fair bit of power.

that video is odd imo

Lifedrain on its own doesn't cost more power than all the other ~lvl47 DD's in the game.

Edit: I must admit, seeing the BD on that video I honestly don't find anything weird about it.

There he goes again. You are obviously too stupid to understand what i actually meant.

Hard ? Hmm, maybe that's the difference ... I wouldn't call it 'hard'
It's actually quite 'hard/difficult', as there's few people who are really good at it. It's got a lot more to do with thinking, rather than just pressing PA in front of someone and then clicking your other styles while you're sticked to him. (and if you still don't know what's more difficult in high-end group RvR, just don't bother replying to this as you're obviously a noob at it then)

Maybe you want to tell me what 'great' skill it takes to play this game ?
Just the high-end group RvR takes a lot of skill, the rest is medium to very easy, but which can be done even better and you can have the upper hand in that part if you're capable of doing so.

Maybe it's just that you call 'skill' what I call 'common sense' ?
Your common sense is obviously to just PA en enemy and then click the rest of your styles while you're attacking the enemy. So apparently you don't know much about this game.

P.S. Just 'cause I don't list all my Chars doesn't mean I don't have others
If you have a RR7 SB and none other listed, you most likely don't even have a RR5+ group-friendly char, which actually just shows you know hardly anything about group RvR.

since you know so much about the 'skill' involved ... where's the problem naming it ? an example ?

Are Skalds group friendly ?

Many here are missing one of the main points in this Vid, rewind it and play again - time after time you see a tank... a plate wearing tank knocked down to 50% before they can even get at the BD, and no thats not from max casting range, its about 500-1000 units, no other caster can do this. Ohh and look when the tank dies - most of the time the name stays yellow - this was a L46+ tank being attacked.

Also watch the mana pool - ive not seen another class drain power so slowely.

Truely they need a NERF :) the moral of the vid is as clear as ever - kill the damn pets first !! how many times do you have to tell people this - yet they still go for the BD first.

it's pretty simple really:

no classes require massive skill to play.

BD requires some skill, just significantly less than for any other caster class owing to:
1) being chain healed by pets to increase survivability.
2) insta-life tap increasing survivability.
3) being able to continue their damage output while being interupted due to it being insta cast.
4) being able to to a small extent debuff their insta damage, giving them comparable damage output to normal caster types (those that can't self debuff).

So there you have it, BD is overpowered because the 2 main balancing features of casters (interupts and poor survivability) are not present, whilst the large damage output potential of a caster still is.

Coming from a chanter who is teh cheesiest character...
Way to go !
I must admit spamming pbae requires massive skill. Oh i forgot, you need to press baod also sometimes when the other 7 chanters in your group dont have it up.

the video is strange, my mana pool drains alot faster then that.

(and i can't do that kind of dmg against a plate wearing alb unless they are like lvl 45)

Heh, first off, that's Malevolencia... she plays a Champ, not a Chanter.

Second, if you think that's all an Enchanter does then you're a complete newbie.

Well...

Stun, debuffs, PBAoE, DDs, Pet, RAs...

Just because Enchanters are effective killing machines that doesn't mean it doesn't require skill to play one well.

Not many classes in RvR have more jobs than a Chanter in any given RvR group vs. group situation.

All this "o0o Enchanters just spam PBAoE" BS is laughable at best and completely retarded at worst.

You can't exactly name the skill needed in DAoC. Nearly all of the stealther battles are practically the same: you engage the enemy in whatever way and fight it out with your styles. In a group a fight will never ever be the same, each situation is different and you'll have to be able to adapt yourself to all of them, making exactly the good move that will make that decisive blow/whatever that makes your group win.

Example: we were 7 in emain today (5 FL + 2 PE, no Paladin), we get to AMG, we kill 3 mids who were behind it, then suddenly 8 Hibs (a good group) attacks us from behind, I use MoC/Purge but die, our cleric dies, then another 2 tanks of our group die. Only 1 hib was was killed so far, then our friar stops combat, starts to cast a rez, evades a slam a Hero did on him just before the rez finished and ends the cast and succesfully rezzes our cleric (Tattersail). Cleric uses Raging Power + MoC and rezzes all but 1 of the group (including me), I mezz the enemy group and after 1 minute all of the Hibs were dead, with 5 of us still alive.

Now if it wasn't for our friar we would've been dead for sure, but every move has to be the right one in a group, and our friar made a very good move here, and that's why the groups that consist of good players (mostly RvR-guild groups) will be the best. (note that our cleric had MoC/RP, that's why the Realm Ranks make a difference too (RR9 Cleric) and that's why it's mostly the RvR guilds which do good. (mostly hugh RR players))

"Skill" in DAoC isn't really what is present in the game, you could better call it "Tactical insight and the use of it". :)

Now, you still think DAoC is just pressing buttons?

P.S. English isn't my main language so this may sound weird to you (unless English isn't your main language either)

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but i felt like writing this.

hmm, so a Healing Class that realizes the rezz-button on it's quickbar is that great skill you're talking of ?

Evade/Block/Parry has nothing to do with the 'skill' of the player, but what tools a class got by default.

'Skill' in this game

1) knowing what spec 'works' for your class, so you don't gimp your char.

Uh, wait, there's cookiecutter templates all over the DAoC-Sites

next try

1a) realizing that it's a team game, and that other classes got tools that will help your and other chars.

But I guess that's in the manual somewhere, no ?

next try

1b) building the perfect Gank Group and ignoring the other guys that ask for a group in your PK.

hmm, wouldn't call building a Gank Squad skill by itself, but organizing the people to meet up on a regular basis seems to require some 'skill'.
... just that this is preparations, not in-combat skill, just in case you missed that I'm talking about 'skill' in-combat.

next try

1c) getting the 'right' RAs
kinda similiar to the first try, bah!

next!

1d) getting enough RPs to buy the RAs that 'pwn'
a 'skilled' player will rack up more RPs faster than a unskilled Player, but he needs other skilled players to earn more RPs faster than an unskilled player.
Sounds like it's going towards 'organization skill' ... again.

In-combat skill in DAoC is low, winning a fight is more about who got the better group setup and who has his Insta's and RA's up.

Would you have won that fight you mentioned without your RAs ?

there's skill involved in DAoC ... just not during the actual fighting.

But I doubt you'll find the people that organize stuff in the RP-tables. Or the Roleplayers, which actually does require skill (imo)
