TV Samsung or Panasonic?

Ok so cut a long story short I've been without TV for a long time due to my old one going green, it couldn't be fixed and now after a few months I'm being offered another TV as a replacement. The choices are:

Panasonic - ideas for life - Television - LCD TVs - TX-32LZD80 - Awards & Test Results
32" FHD Ready LCD TV LE32A556 - LCD TV - television | SAMSUNG

The Panasonic will be pristine, the Samsung will be off the shop floor and I think has been on there for about a month. Anyone able to help me with this dilemma?

Many thanks!

Get the Panny, it does 24p playback. Better specced.

I really like the Samsung TV, but when you see them next to other TVs they don't quite have the same sharpness.

Don't buy from there, but have a wonder around a local PC World/Currys and then decide, specs and such are nice, but being able to check one out before making a decision... makes a big difference :)

Most samsung tv's are set to demo mode in show rooms. When you actually set them to user mode and change a few settings they look amazing...

Get the samsung! :p

There is always this love from samsung tv's, and it is something I personally do not get. I find their colours wrong and the picture not quite right. Ho hum, each to their own. I would recommend though Nate that you read reviews for the Tv you want over at avforums, check the specs and see what having something like 24p means to you, and demo the TV's you are looking at. Side by side if possible, and changing the settings off "showroom" high contrast and colour mode. And then buy it from somewhere else :) Digitial direct, avsales and avland will all do you good, and for a fair deal less.

I'm with Ch3t on this.

Panasonic or Pioneer every time (or of course the Sharp).

Never been impressed with the larger Samsungs, the smaller ones seem ok though.

I couldn't get either of them as they weren't in stock so was given vouchers instead and ended up getting this 32" FHD Ready LCD TV LE32A656 - LCD TV - television | SAMSUNG for another fifty quid. Hopefully it should be here on Tuesday. It's a bit annoying I couldn't get an Internet connection in pc world, would have loved to get some input on it but I suppose it's a good TV and much better then what I had previously 1080p now for fifty quid sounds nice :D

Without wanting to sound too preachy, that is the wrong way to buy tv's, "oooo that looks shiney I'll have it". If you had vouchers, you had time to research what to spend them on....

If I'm honest I felt a bit pressured to seal the deal there by the staff, I wasn't handed vouchers rather the old tv they couldn't get me was refunded and put on the price of the new one.

Change your mind then. Do some research and make an informed choice.
Also is the TV you choose actually £50 more? Or did they force the upsell?

Samsung make the panels that get sent out to a lot of the other manufacturers as far as I know. As a result you often get the next generation panel in Samsung TV's compared to the other brands. I hear good things, hope you enjoy your new screen :).

£630? Well that sammy they sold you is only £550 on the net, and thats the most I saw it for. So they are ripping you off for a start.

I'll have a look after the gym. 1080p really is pointless on a 32" tv. You could get 37" for that much cash, quite easily.

They are vouchers though and they won't do a cash refund :( I don't think I can fit a 37" on the wall. I think thats including the delivery charge as they don't have any in store.

I've been checking those red samsungs out in the store, have not seen the 6/7 serie but the 8 serie (the slim version) has the sharpest picture I've seen so far :) . I think you will be more than happy with it :)

Another thing I've noticed is that you are always much happier with your purchase if you don't google reviews etc :)

For what it's worth I have a Samsung TV 32" and a Samsung Synchmaster monitor too, and I'm very happy with both of them.

Panasonic get the better write up in Which. They are also the only TV which can come with a Free Sat receiver built in.

I've been hearing pretty crappy things about both Panasonic and Which recently.
