Agreed. It's hard to participate on these raids, since I live in Finland and 1900 GMT is 9PM here. From my experience the raids tend to last for 5 hours so ending at 2 am and waking up for work at 6 am is not really an option for me.

Well, I'm not gonna be going on any raids whatsoever where the organiser claims any item or uses the "roll-until-you-win" system.
So I'm not really sure why I should think myself lucky about anything. If you think a bit about it, you might realise that your rules greatly favors the tank classes, and as more and more people realise this I suspect raids with these rules are gonna have a hard time getting enough support classes to show up.
I agree. I find it annoying when I see threads on the trade forums where thanes are selling skald armors or healers are selling swords etc. Imo a player shouldn't be allowed to roll on an item he can't use to full potential. So if a hammer has +4 hammer +4 parry +4 shield +40hps for example, healers, shamans, zerkers, or skalds really shouldn't have the privilage to roll for that item cause it's only worth its potential in the hands of a thane or a warrior. Same goes for rest of the items. Like belts with piety are not for warriors or zerker's. "roll-until-you-win" system results in these auctions on trade forum. It made me sick when I heard that a player (not gonna mention names) had salvaged TG armors (armor that wasn't his class) and gotten 113 arcaniums, that's like 576.5G, I think that armor could have served someone better.

And claiming items is kinda lame too. (not saying that Svartmetall has claimed any), but I know that organizing a raid can be a pain in the arse, so imo it's fair if organizer is able to roll on let's say 3 items.

And last of all. Svartmetall, pick the loot immediately after it drops, and make the macros in TG so when you come out you can just yell the macros in CG 1 min after the raid is over. Results less waiting-> happier people-> more participants on future raids. GL with raid and hope to see some raids with better timings for us GMT +2 peeps(I think this comes from all people in Finland, Greece, Estonia and Russia)

P.s I love to quote :)

It's the first time I've organised a big raid, and it would be nice if people didn't jump down my fucking throat like that.

I'm TRYING to get something nice happening here, which I would like to maybe do on a regular basis. Please excuse the hell out of me if I don't please everyone with everything first time. At no point have I said I'm not open to suggestions on lotto rules, it's the first one I've run.

And BTW I wouldn't have any problem going on a raid where the organiser (i.e. the one putting in a fuckload of effort to get stuff happening) said "if XXXX drops, I want one"...hell, it's their raid.

Jakobi posting:

Iwasn't trying to jump down your throat or anything, but I kinda made a suggestion about the lotto rules, and I got the "lucky" comment.

1 ticket lottery takes longer time, but it is the most fair way there is.
What I have against the "roll-until-you-win" system is:

We did some raids in guild, I went probably 5 or more times. What I saw happen over and over was. For example we got a cloak or belt drop, one of those 64 hits, 3x9 % resist, then we got some weapons and some class specific armor parts. What happened was that we rolled for cloaks and belts etc first and everybody rolled for those uber items. And after that the tanks who haven't gotten anything rolled for weapons. But I was not allowed that since I can't use them. Effectively that gives the tanks a better chance of leaving with an item over a caster. If it was 1 ticket, tanks had to decide if they wanted that sword or that cloak. And as some would roll on a sword, I as a caster would have a better chance on the cloak.
That's why I find 1 ticket lottery more fair. Everybody has 1 roll on an item, and offcourse if you are looking for one of the more popular items, you will have more ppl to compete with.
With that being said, I'm all in for the rule about only rolling for items you can use right now, not after respecs etc.

Offcourse you could argue that staves can drop for casters etc, but imo dual focus is next to useless, which to my knowledge all TG staves has.

That's about it I think, ppl might agree or diesagree with me. The conclusion of it all is, in my opinion 1 ticket lottery is the best way to do it.

We have done 2 raids with H&S in TG and both times we lotto'd by giving ppl in cg a number and doing /random number. Ppl could choose any drop. This worked fine (although i didnt get a drop both times ;) ).

As for claiming an item by the raidorganiser. I have no problem with that. Someone who organises such an event puts a lot of effort into the raid. That should be rewarded. The more raids we get the better for Midgard.

As for selling equipment.
Ppl spent time on a raid and won the lotto for an item. If he/she can use this item is of no issue, he/she was lucky in the lotto, end of story. Having said that..
TG raids have to start early because of the duration of a TG raid. My computer time is limited to after 2100 CET. So although i would like to join more raids i am not able to do so. I can however farm money after 2100 CET to buy those items. If i buy an item from someone who won the lotto we have 2 more happy midgardians.

As for salvaging TG equipment.
Plz GOA lock their accounts :p

Well if all the people who've PM'd me in-game (especially last night when I had to suspend playing to answer everyone) had posted here to confirm like I asked them to we'd have 4FGs without even breaking sweat...:)...we'll see as tonight progresses.

A nice and simple system

A slight altertative version is:
1) Everybody in CG does random 1000
2) Person with highest number chooses ANY item he wants -It doesent matter if the item he/she chooses fits the character on the raid.
3) Second highest chooses the item he/she wants ... and so on...

Such a system is fair for all imo.

People are likely to go for items which they can actually use.

Furthermore its increases the chances of people bringing support characters as it is allowed to choose an item for whatever character you have.
Basically: You put the time and effort in partitioning on the raid -hence you've earned a ticket to the lotto.

The system is fast - and it is IMPOSSIBLE to argue about ANYTHING -if you have agreed to these rules beforehand.

Think this lotto system should be applied to most raids.
Because its so increadibly simple.

Try picturing that system on a raid with 90 people and 30ish drops. After the most popular drops are gone people will start asking "whats left? whats left?" and you end up having to list the rest of items several times. Not to mention the work to sort 90 rolls in correct order.

On smaller raids it would work but I still wouldn't use "pick any item". Then you have to trust all raiders to use "need before greed" and thats asking alot. For example the very rare warrior hauberk shouldn't go to a runie and thats that.

I prefer a version of the roll until you win system, not because its necessarily fairer than the 1 ticket system but it's much easier to handle on big raids. Less variables to have to think about the smoother it goes.

Hope your raid goes well Svart.
