I hope thats sorted out before the BarryBeer. I'll have enough problems getting to the pub, without having to find an alternative to the tube.

P.s. it's only the Circle + Hammersmith & City lines that are affected - rest of the underground is running fine.

You gotta love this quote
Mr Crow said as the strike began: "It is a great pity that the company has devoted so much time, energy and public money on snooping on an employee guilty of nothing more than trying to get fit enough to return to work.
Straight out of "I'm All Right Jack".

Take two lines out and the knock-on effects screw up the whole of London - other lines are more packed and slow down and everyone else (like me) gets in their car so traffic gets screwed as well. Hammersmith & City isn't much of a problen but Circle Line really screws things up (along with Central and Northern).

I doubt anyone using the Hammersmith line will notice any difference from the normal service it provides...

I think it's fair him being given the boot tbh. He's obviously been caught out taking a sickie and is now hiding behind the union (who are always looking for any excuse to strike).

It doesn't give any clue as to his sickness. He could have been suffering from depression or any number of illnesses.

I think the dispute is more to do with management following workers around to see what they're up to. I don't have anything against that, especially seeing as it sounds like they had a good reason.

Sack the whole fucking lot of 'em. You can get a machine to push and pull levers.

Unions = Destroy.

Look at the firestrike, they are striking again cos their own union can't write a memo. :rolleyes:

lets hope those machines know what to do in an emergency situation, when the job is running fine its very easy i agree but when the brown stuff hits the fan thats when we earn our money.

saying that the guy who got caught did seem to be taking the piss

i believe that all DLR trains have a member of staff on board who can if needed override the controls and drive the train manually.

They do these days, but I remember travelling on it during the first few years of operation where there was no staff onboard most trains.

Was slightly unnerving sometimes :)
