Well this is my first 'public' video so be gentle :D

This is, as stated, a valkyrie video containing FG fights from Avalon from my Point of view. It's a video made mainly to show the progression as time went on and as such, the first few fights weren't the best :D BG hugging WAS sort of my role back then although things have changed a lot since...

The first and second fight in the vid are from our first or second night out; I can't remember which so don't expect any amazing feats on my part in terms of gameplay.

Couldn't think of another host so put it on filefront for now. If anyonelse is avaliable to host, that'd be fantastic.

http://files.filefront.com/TT_Ava___valk_povwmv/;7335340;/fileinfo.html

Sorry for the file format. Was having big problems with virtualdub so thought sod it and just used raw footage in vegas and compressed it from there. No vent chat either I'm afraid as I've not been able to do it without pissing off the rest of the group with reverb. Any tips for this would be appreciated/repped.

362meg for a 15minute file :( On a plus side, you do get to see Sollski with just his boots on! woohoo!

Here i was looking forward to see fights vs some of the other rerolled grps ..

No v4l or xny or gal ..

But i like the change u made from wasting ppls time with the kiting bs to upclose and personal with meleegruppah!

Keep it up looking forward to some more avalon films!

In all honesty, I'm bloody useless at hitting record and didnt get anything captured with cluster groups im afraid :( Only rarely have fraps running as my computer doesn't seem to enjoy it all that much. You can see the difference in frame rate from mine and laruthias computer in the vid for example hence why I'm weary about it.

I often hit record only to have to stop it part way through due to lag :(

We've had fights vs most of the other groups by now, but Kir hasn't recorded them for reasons stated above, we probably have zerker footage but it's not being released (yet possibly).
I haven't seen it yet so I don't know what its like (knowing Kir, dire music :fluffle: :fluffle: ).

*But i like the change u made from wasting ppls time with the kiting bs to upclose and personal with meleegruppah!*

I liked the kite groups, extending with tanks was one of the most effective tactics in Alb (see quite a few Alb kite groups on Avalon now), but imo the 5 tank group we have now is WAY more fun and harder to do well with all the 2BGer groups about these days. Probably expect a few more movies if Kir can remember to put more hamsters in the furnace and stop lagging :p

Enjoyed the movie and thats a well played interrupt-valk :)

Music was so-so and won't be everyones taste but the actual fights were decent (specially vs much higher RR's) as I would expect from TT.

Hope to see more from you guys :)

I dont agree with this really. "Full" tank or caster grps are both quite simple to play. With casters you kite, with tanks you push, not much more to it. A balanced grp is harder to play and also has the most potential when played well.

About the movie... playing was mostly nice, but looked like the enemies were just pugs or other crap grps, not very impressive to kill them with a setgrp, even if lowrr. Sure it was a kind of "development" vid, but I would have thought development happens by losing & improving vs good grps, not rolling over shitgrps;O

edit: just wanted to add that two povs at once is useless, imo. can't follow both at once anyway, and cant follow one of them because of the small size..

doh, my comments were so negative, watched it all (except for the dualpov part) so it wasnt THAT bad ofc! :D

I'll reiterate, harder to play well as I reckon a well played hybrid group is tougher due to being more flexible (one BoF fucks our dps output for 30s, with hybrid you still have magic damage, likewise with BAOD you still have tank dps, it's all about redundancy). I see your point, the concept is simple (push) but just charging towards the other group isn't going to get you many rps.

Hear the expert!

Ever tried to kill a Paladin or Warden in mellee after the shield patch? Or a buffed ML9 Pet? Ever ran in to a group with 2 BGers, who know their job?

If full mellee groups are so easy to play, why are we the only one running?

liked it :) and my gawd it made me miss playing midgard again...

we were the next to last hibgrp you showed, with the really roggy colours :D and i gotta say -its not easy to try and BG against 5 tanks! on the other hand: we do better than the stupidly high grp you showed after :p and we have the most dysfunctional grp there is! <flex>

edit: thanks for the care with music and povs against us  and /hug daemyr!

lol, and here was me thinking the music would be more universal this way :D A different trend next time instead of a general rocky one.

Effects:
I do have to say, I know I went overboard with certain effects and such and the critisicm is appreciated. It wasn't only a development vid for TT, it was a development vid for my editing; trying out new things and such. Is only the second time I've used vegas, the first time being for an internal tic vid for the group so the editing was minimal.

Size/quality:
I was having big problems importing virtualdub files to vegas and only found out there is a nice simple converter when I was about 2/3 of the way through making it so thought I'd carry on regardless. Needless to say, next vid will be hopefully better quality and/or smaller in size.

Difficulty of playing that group:
I do wonder if people would ever be happy with a groups setup. Some whined at our alb setup, now people complain as such when we try a setup different to anybodyelses, heh.
Full tank groups (as shown only in the last 2 fights) are only easy if the enemy has no pets and/or no BGer. Playing against certain groups with 2BGers, cabby pet, sorc pet and therg pets make life a little more difficult. Everybody still has different roles now, not just a case of charge and mass interupt...

I do really wish I could record the vent chat although I fear Andys ramblings would make even the most sturdy crumble ;)

Thanks for the fights. If anyone wants to fight us, we still run monday and thursday evenings :D Am gonna hover my finger over that record button from now on. And the bits of the vid which took the longest haven't even been commented on yet! pfft :(
