i didnt know that you couldnt do 1080p down vga .. but the washed out colours are a thing of the past if you have a decent vga cable after one of the updates

and its generally acepted that vga gives a better picture than the component.

obviously not on 1080p like you said though.

And 720P would bebetter than 1080i in things that move fast about the screen iirc

Trem -the cable should come with your 360 as standard... unless you bought the core console without the harddrive? It has an optical out on the port that plugs into the 360.

and no no no no! The best res you can use on your screen is the native res of your screen. So 1920*1080 for you, or 1080(i/p). If you use 720p, then you are feeding your screen a lower res, and then your screen is upscaling that picture back to 1080.

Oh and I looked up your new tv. It does look lovely. Pics!

IGN: There are very few 1080p native HDTVs that accept 1080p via Component connections. The signal will only come in as 1080i and be de-interlaced back to 1080p. How is the 360's new 1080p support, in practical application, going to be any different than what was already possible?

Microsoft: We can offer 1080p support through both the VGA connection and the Component connection.

IGN: Xbox 360's New 1080p Support: Crippled? ***UPDATED***

source for the truth

vga can do 1080p

keep teh vga and set rezz to 1980 or what ever it is

I can't set it to that setting, thats what caused all the trouble in the first place. My telly only does the next one down via VGA.

tried asking on avforums see if there is a setting your missing ?

Is it an official vga cable or a third party one ?

If its not official pr a cheaper third party one that could be part of the problem ,, the wiring might not be up to scratch to carry the 1080 signal.

Have you tried plugging in a pc and testing the output of it at 1920 rezz you could narrow down where the problem is then
