I want to patch my Football Manager game with a fan update (puts in all the correct club badges etc). It's not against their CoC, however I cant download the file via Torrent as I get such pathetic speeds.

I really don't know what I have done wrong as I followed all the instructions :-(
These are the changes I have made. I deleted the port out of the screenshots but I (for example) am using port 25000 on all the entries.

Ok, just run the test again and it said my download rate is 473.6kbps which is good for me. This must mean BT throttled the shit out of me earlier? Is there some magical way round this?

nah my m8 got throttled to shit with bt in prime time even thobt denied they did it .. he moved to xilo and is fine now

Yeah, looking around it looks like BT performs traffic shaping on bittorrent transfer, or at least according to here. The ISPs that shape traffic tend to do it at certain times of the day though, so during the wee hours of the morning it might be fine.

Also, I'm not sure whether it works or not though - but some of the bittorrent clients (i.e. uTorrent, Azureus etc) have an encryption setting. This link explains how to enable it, but it claims that encrypting the header and stream of the packet obfuscates the contents and prevents it from being traffic shaped. Not sure if that's true, but might be worth a shot?

His encryption is already on. If he wants to fool BT more it needs to be set to "Forced" but older shit clients will then not connect. Generally you would be better off disabling DHT as a lot of trackers don't like it. Where is the Mod distributed, private tracker or public one?
