Seems Mythic approves of the 'weight of numbers' rule a little too much.. IRL not all great historical battles are won with weight of numbers.. other things are taken into account such as terrain and weather. Although i'm impressed with the graphics of the game, it would be great if wet ground or a steep incline made traversing them difficult, or to be able to breach a hole in a keep wall using a seige weapon (not just bashing doors), sudden fog spoiling the view [more severely than rain, although heavy rain is fantastic effect :)].. etc..

These little suggestions would give lots of room for tactics, at the moment I feel there's little scope for thought when fighting in the frontiers.

Any improvements to the game such as these, that aren't directly class related, can only be a good thing. Would make the game so much more interesting too.

Fighting in forests I quite enjoy .... It's just cool to see opposing forces charge at each other through lines of trees. :)

I think the issue is how to code this, will your computer (or server) run that and so on. Yes, it would be great if there were more tactics and so on.

I once had the idea that every group could have a 'banner bearer' which would show to your realm mates only. With a guild emblem or maybe a randomly selected one or whatever. Minimum size of 6 or so to get the banner. If you fight withing certain range of the bearer, you get certain bonuses... like +2% damage and +10% RPs or something. A simple pulsing spell that casts around the bearer...

Also extra RP for killing the enemy bearer. This is why enemies couldnt see it because everyone would just try to gank the bearer.

Or maybe you'd need a larger force to get the banner... like 2 groups and so on. This on the other hand might encourage 'zerging' too much.

That's just an idea that could be developed into something...

So far its only the PBT and Chants that make you stand close in group. But Svartalf is right the game needs more atmospheric content. Otherwise its just zergorama.
Even heavy rain is extremely rare. :/ Gimme More Gimme More Gimme More :)

I agree with svart here, would be fun to see weather and terrain effect fights. Fog could work as nearsight.

What i hope most for is they fix the target seeking arrows. Would be fun to see trigectory of a fired arrow, not even todays smart weapons are as smart as the arrows in this game.

I totally agree, but I'd also like to see the rangers at keeps unable to shoot through walls, like players can't.

How about a RA for warriors...

Throw Banana skin

gives a 50% chance of targetslipping and sitting down, allowing you to hit for double the damage.
Brings minstrels out of speed and stealth, innterupts casters...

once on the VN boards i saw an idea for tempory ladders that could be made at keep walls and milegates, also the idea was that they could be pushed over by defenders incuring fall damage, which i thought was a great idea. also, the good ol boiling tar (aoe fire damage) spells for keeps which could be on say 4 min timers (could be a keep rank thing?) and that all siege equipment, except rams equipment costs, weight and wood requirement would be quartered so they would be more usable.

that sorta thing would be ace.

I thought that it would be good to be albe to 'extend' a keep so that it has an extra tower or room... and that once complete (takes long time to build, maybe?) can house more guards..

Or if under siege for a while, the keep defenders will begin to "starve" --> meaning higher fatigue, lower hp etc. The guards will be spawning slower and weaker.... just a suggestion.

Keep takes are iether extrmees atm, eiterh dead fast and over in a flash, or near impossible and the attackers just get massacres.

There is no knife edge balance atm.

Equal numbers of attackers to defenders and a ram each door means keep taken usually (unless its Hibs and the old PBAE Lords trick)

Not enuff numbers of attacksers and/or no rams means pretty much the defenders will wipe the floor with em.

Keep takes have always been boring as hell in this game, the first 2-3 when we all hit level 30 was fun, now they are just a pain in the buttocks. Some fun injected into keeps would be welcomed with open arms.
