Only way you will stop this is by banning. And the idiotic thing like post-count and giving forum-names for it (Deity, Earther, Talks too Much etc etc) will only make it worse because some people get a kick out of that.

+1 is such a sad thing. If you want the spam removed start by removing the CAUSE of it: The postcount and title thing.

If you dont remove that you will always have people farming for posts.

So easy to fix yet you guys make such a big fuss about it. Its YOUR board YOUR rules. Dont live by the rules ---> ban.

tbh i thought the same while reading the thread and was only supposed to write "amen" to what you said because i agree with all of it but tbh i might get banned and taken for a +1 spammer !

then i was going on another post directed for damini or any other mod it may interest to, but will do it on this one, so i wont be acused of spamming

tbh another thing i would like to say as i read across the thread is i have to agree with poon when he says RvR section in BW is whine after whine, gratz after gratz (most of them +1 threads) and if you ban the people BW will decrease 90% on population imo...

Another thing is people are free to say what they think in any democracy, dictactorship makes oppression and imo BW is or at least should be "democratic" and give all tards and non tards the same right to speak what they want, so let people say what they think even if it is a tard +1 post... the people reading it will judge if it is or it isnt something worth reading, that's my personal opinion only, but if u threathen to ban someone out of the forums u are entering a dangerous terrain imo

Reading stuff like that just makes it less likely that intelligent people with something to say will post. You drag the atmosphere in here down, and discourage new posters. In the end all that is left is a bunch of school kids calling eachother 'cocksucker'.

Try and argue your point without resorting to personal attacks based on gender too, just makes you sound like a schoolkid.

Aim your posts are discussing / rebuking / even poking fun of what people say, but leave the personal attacks out. Im sure you have breached the guidelines for these forums about 4 times in these post alone. I want to hear people say why they think stronger moderation is not a good thing, not why you hate certain moderators irl etc.

I think that's fairly patronising to teenagers. Four year olds have a stronger grip on the english language than +1, infact autistic four year olds interact better. We're not trying to be thought police, but we are trying to maintain a discussion forum for all the users. At least the gratz threads are a nice way of saying well done to people, even if they are slightly monotonous. Yes, you're going to get whine threads, you're going to get flames, we can't change the community or the things they want to discuss, but I think we should try to stamp out posts that contribute absolutely nothing at all, and actually discourage some users.

Anyway, being unhelpful here, I dont think you are doing anything near as much postcount reseting and banning as you should be, as you said you would do a few months ago. Apparantly it was because it took too much work and you had to go to higher up mods to reset post counts.

In the long run though isnt it less work to stop the alcoholic from drinking as a pose to trying to decorate his/her vomit with flowers?

IRL i would go into detail on an argument but you know what they say about arguing on the internet.

You cant make yourself out to look "good" here, you cant make yourself look "intelligent" and quite frankly i'm not interested in peoples opinion of me on an internet forum, Ingame yes as thats where i play, irc yes as thats where i chat to people most days and i actually have some good discussion and irl? of course i'm a 25 year old man with a responsible job.

Much as we'd sometimes like to suck your brains out with a straw and sift through the gellatonous mass for infomation, sometimes its just plain easier if you tell us. And less messy.

Everybody on these forums was given the opportunity to apply to be a mod. Out of all the active posters here, a ridiculously miniscule percentage applied. Maybe it was the lack of company car, and the fact the effigies of you will be burnt at the stake every week or so, but you can't have it both ways. Either you moderate, or you except the moderating. You can let us know privately when you disagree, and you can let us know once and we'll get the message. Arguing with us won't get you anywhere fast, debating with us might. I've decided to put on my spikey Thatcherite shoes on and get tougher on people giving us mods grief. What we do we do for the forums, and not for some power/status kick. I don't strut around in RL with a t-shirt saying "DAoC mod, lick my shoes!!". I do this because of a respect for Barrysworld and for these forums. Realistically, I should have handed over the baton because final year university degree = work of insanity, but these forums do need a lot of moderating simply because of the massive range of people who write here. We have parents with their kids, we have people of I should imagine 13 years and upwards, we have many different nationalities, we have the 1337 and the ones that want to bury the 1337 far out in the woods and deny their existance... Its a big cross over.

What I'm trying to say is I'd like to see this community actually help the mods more, rather than just whinge if something happens they don't agree with. And I'm going to become less tolerant of anti-mod behaviour - I'm putting away my niceness until Christmas time. The mods are here to help the community out, and its about time it felt more recipricated from some areas.

Still holds true today I think.
