I think having to understand 3 different languages (and possibly more) must be very good for the mind. I bet you people have a good qualification pass rate and unemployment is low.

Mais les wallons peut choisir entre néerlandais ou anglais comme deuxième language et ca c'est ne pas tres honet.

Damn straight. Ever since I went there last year my fridge is always well stocked with Delerium, Leffe and Lucifer :)

I remember entering the spirits bar by the river (canal?) in Gent, however I have no memory of when I left. I believe the drink was called 'Thor's Hammer' :)

Really cool people there, they gave us gifts when we left!!!
You just don't get that stuff like that back here in blighty.

Sorry my "everything" apart from English is pretty poor.

Klav your English is very good.

Now you should all learn Spanish, Chinese and Russian then you'll be able to understand 90% of the worlds population.

Or how about a Cornish accent? "Cant do much but I kin drive a tracterrrr", "Awight me mateys?"

Mmmmm.. Hoegaarden..

Duvel too :) and a nice bit of Chimay...

morte subite

Hitch-hiked to brussels from edinburgh a few years ago... between 20 of us we made it through the beer menu.

They had an imported scottish beer called 'Scotch Gordon' which was the most horrible pish ever to come out of this country. Why couldn't they have had something nice? eh? :)

Don't despair of the products of olde blightey yet jiggs:
St. Peters brewery stuff is really nice, also the Black Isle brewery (really nice porter), Caledonian Brewery, and especially the Orkney Brewery (mmm Dark Island).

Course we've not got anything like Guinness which brings ireland to the world... (and is damned tasty too.. although the stuff we get over here that's brewed halfway up the M6 isn't quite as nice as the stuff you get at the source)

YES
I remember the round one, that had an especially silly glass. I think its was pronounced quack (dunno how it was writ) cos thats the noise it made when it bubbled down the odd shaped glass into your mouth:)

Knokker: wasn't all scottish beer I mentioned :)

some good ole english warm beer in there too (but I refrigerate it ... the climate up here isn't conducive to warm beer :) St. Peters is brewed in Suffolk...)
