I'm lvl 50 yes....

I'm a crafter, need cash....

I don't want to support low lvl's...

don't ask me for gold I'm tired of it, I earned my own gold and supported myself

So STFU and don't blame me for your low lvl char not having cash some of us been here from day one and made our own cash get it

2 handy hints for dealing with beggars.

1) Ask them if they know about the money trick. "What money trick?" they ask. "Oh it's great!" you tell them. "What i do?" they reply. "You go out and you kill monsters and they drop stuff and the merchants here GIVE YOU MONEY for it! It's amazing!"* you tell them. They often piss off at this point and leave you alone. If not then 2) is the solution:

2) /ignore is a wonderful thing.

Personally i dont mind giving a little cash to nOObs to the game, but these last weeks the amount of beggars has exploded, and therefore i am closing the poorbox and will instead have a litttle fun with beggars i like the money trick one....

To be honest 50% of the time I will give a beggar money if I haven't seen them begging before and they're asking something reasonable, for instance "could you spare me a few silver for horses and a new weapon?" is likely to get a gold or 2 but "hafv u any g plz?" on a spammed macro gets /ignore or the money trick spiel :)

Don't give em gold otherwise you see them 10 minutes later with a full set of L5 armour all dyed black. ;)

Seriously, near enough every time I've been in Gothwaite Harbour recently there's been somebody yelling or /b can sum1 give me sum g plz, or words to that effect. If there's one thing that I hate more than somebody not saying please, it's 'plz'; I fucking hate it - if you're going to beg, do it properly.

/stops typing before he gets on a roll

If someone asks nicely and only for a reasonable amount I will always help them out with 10g or so, I will never help those people who spam 'plZ!'. I would rather eat my own leg first :)

So true.. but i thought it was just midgard that had suddenly had an explosion of beggars.. good to know albion is suffering too :)

New players , I agree , always nice to help new ppl out , but the odds on a new player at level 1 asking for 10 gold usually tips me off there not so new...

Just mention it in broadcast there asking for gold and they will usually stop, as there pm spams get pretty useless then when ppl know they have received something.

Had to laugh just the other day 1 person comes to the crafters area and asks for gold ,(did who on him hes level 1)macroed, then after a min or 2 goes away , another level 1 then comes along , uses the same macro :)

Every beggar so far ive asked has come from excalibur.

When i took my characters there I asked in camelot if anyone wanted to trade cash , not run around hassling players, but thats just me.

I really know as a lowbie its hard to earn your own cash, since a full set of AF10 armor costs around 4-5 g...You will have 2-3g if you farm your own cash at lvl 10, not more...But of course its your own gold...When I just started to play the game I needed 1 more silver to buy 1 part of armor...And I couldnt ask someone cause I 'feared' that 1 silver was too much and I dont like to beg for money actually...but when I asked someone gave me 5g, I was surprised..Now I know 5g when you are lvl 50 is like 5 copper when you are lvl 5, but it is great that people give you more money than you ask for tho...And if someone asks me for 1g I will give them 5, but not now cause I'm completely OOG (out of gold) :(

it all depends on how they ask and how much they ask.

I usually tell them to farm greens for an hour or so if they need money that badly. Funnily enough most of don't like that advice even though it works.

That's just plain ewul that is. :p

As for giving out cash, I generally don't do it, after all, when I first started playing, no one had any money to hand out, I saved the cash I had, used drops for armor and weapons and then used the saved cash to do craft tasks to raise more cash. There are plenty of ways of generating your own money, so long as you are willing to put in a little bit of time and effort, which clearly alot of beggars aren't. ;)

I'll always give money to new players but not if someone comes begging for money. Worst thing is when someone comes asking for money and I ask what lvl they are on excal and they reply "lvl 50"

People should do cash transfers if they are lvl 50 really.

Had a lvl 5 Paladin called hermes or something spamming our guild for gold in Goth harbour, when i told him to go hunt for it like we all have to he called me a noob, so one of our quick thinking minstrels said 'If you can beat me in a duel within 30 minutes i'll give you 10 gold', our minstrel sat down and took all his armour off except his sidi vest with the heal proc on it, was very amusing. Don't think he succeeded.

Just buy em 300 oakwood or something and give it to them as far away from the merchants as possible. That way they will work for the money

Their are way to many ppl begging atm and its convenient how they all gather around crafters.

In the time its taken me to ignore the abuse they now give they could have lvl'd twice and got some cash. OK 5s for a horse I can understand but when you actually give a lowbie 1g they moan that its not enuf.

So now I ignore them all, you never know if they have 50 alts or another account or anything. Get off your ass and lvl you sponging louts, beggars are the DAOC equivalent of Students. :)

I used to hand a few gold out, then people started taking the piss and saying either "thats not enough" or I see them 2 mins later with dyed merc bought L5 armour.

Now I just say "no" or if they persist "No, fuck off"

Usually works.
