Always gonna say this.
When we did our "weird" relic raids times.
It was still spontanious and we planned them like 1hour earlier.
And we would have failed if we got spotted.
You where "spotted" and those who where online,
did their best to defend it. As it was the same amount of ppl that it is normally that hour. Did albs have same amount? No.
Thats a HUGE diffrence.
Anyway yes.. ITS good tactics. To attack when u know u are gonna get the relic cause u outnumber the others.
But still dont even compare these morning raids to our late raids.
As it was not like we planned it ages before and have alot of ppl online. If we would have been spotted we would have failed.
But we where not.. Thats why we sucedded those times.
And yes those raids we did are perhaps not fun either.
But atleast u had a good chance to stop the raids if u only spotted us.
So dont think its a HUGE diffrence between raiding a time where only those ppl are online normally then set a time to get ppl stay up late or go up earlier so u outnumber the others alot so they dont have a big chance to defend at all.
But like i said its a good tactic to attack a time when the other realm are mostly offline.
But boring that a realm dont have a chance even to stop a raid even if they are spotted.

Then I'm correcting you - you are wrong (and next time you wanna flame me go find the quote to substantiate it). I have consistently maintained that any hour of day or night can or will be used for raiding, and upheld a view that a great many mids were hypocritical to moan at us when we raided on a Sunday morning previously. Nothing more, nothing less.
I am not the one whining here - as I said above, any time is going to be used, and yes, you could argue that 4am is legit also (nothing in the rules to say it isn't. Defenders? Yes, there were about 30 or so, but we whooped em a good'un

For the record, personally I find 9 in the morning ungodly early. I don't know what you lot do, but if I get woken before 10:00 on a sunday, don't stick around. =)

some ppl might say 4 am is not primetime the fac is. there's 20 times more ppl on at 4 am than 9 am. no one is online at 9 am. late players are on at 4 am. fair enough you picked the right time. we just leave at 4 am cause when we do a relic raid at 9 pm, the we have 2 w8 for stragglers so we might hit at 4 am. where you still have tons of defenders compared 2 what there's on in the morning

I'm not gonna go look for a qoute because I have no idea how to do it sadly. I remember it was a thread started by brannor about the time 30 odd mids took a relic late at night. You were flaming the people who attended the raid. I remember posting that they played the game and you whined on the forum, all doing what they do best. But anyhoo, doesnt matter now. You dont mind early morning raids, I dont really mind either so whats to argue about. Just remember this if the relic disappears at 4 am.
If it makes you feel better to think that then go ahead. You did of course totally miss the point, which was that you purposly did the raid at a time where you would not get many defenders because not alot of ppl were on. Which is fine, but dont come here and say that the time didnt factor into the success of the raid, you and me both know that is bs.

We needed a wakeup call ...
Ever since Darkness Fall's came (the weeks to follow anyway) nobody cared about the relic's. Even epic zone was total emty for a long time. So now that people have killed the legion ect. attention is returning to relic's and primary to the taking of keep's to gain access to DF.
Most of the times when alliance chat says "Relic's under attack" i usually stay about my bussiness .. exping ect. Why ? Couse every time i tryed to join a defence of Mjollnir or so the lag is so awsome it takes the joy from my gameplay
And second ... if hib/alb take our relic's i might get some fun in the retake ... (can just hope that no1 will come to defend)
I think thats why most prefere to take relics in the early morning hours ... coz many many people have monster lag when all these people is gathered at the same place. Why can't they fix that btw ? Some times i can tell when an army is comming to our frontiers ... "I have lag from hell" Reply: "Hurry up to Uppland ... check Relic's"

WE did those raids..
And before u needed like only 30ppl to sucedd a relic raid
Atm u need tons more if u dont own all keeps.
And the key to sucess those times was to not get spotted
If we would try get all keeps now we would get albs out
And then they would see us, and it would be failure.
Thing when u plan a morning raid.
The other realm cant defend as they dont have the amount
of ppl online as the other realm has as it was planned.
And you got alot of ppl online that are normally not up that early.

As has been said... this thread is old... has been kicked to death long ago.. so I wont bother with the main point.
However, on defenders: By the time Albs took Arvakr and were marching down to Grallarhorn we had 16 defenders in place, I know cos I did a head count at Grallarhorn, and 2 of them were under level 30. By the time Albs were at the keep we had 32 defenders or so, again a fair few below 30. Slowly more began to arrive therafter.
On relic raids: Last time I was involved in the organising of a relic raid with Durgi and others, we took a relic at 4am with probably 40 people. Great effort I thought and yayyyy Midgard we got a relic back (and as Blejsarus said, this was spontaneous, 40 Mids at AMGO at midnight or so with nothing better to do til one said... I know....lets take a relic) but noooooo! I was wrong! We got slated, we got told that this wasnt honourable, that this was a shameful thing to do for Midgard and that we had embarrassed our realm....by Albs? By Hibbies? Nooooooo! By our fellow realm mates! Not just here on these boards but I received many PMs in game to this effect also
So... we go to "Prime time" and we get our "prime time" Midgardian butts kicked! Why? Simple... cos we can get 60+ people taking keeps to reopen DF but last time I was on a relic raid (couple of evenings ago) 35 turned up? With 30+ ppl over lv 40 xping in Malmohus and 20+ in DF... and before anyone thinks this is a flame on xp-ers, ITS NOT, you pay your money you play your game the way you choose, simple as that really. Just saying that the only way to take relics these days, with the amount of Mids available for such things is to go back to "non prime time" raids, in my opinion.
Sometimes though I dont wonder at this situation. We have a fair few Middies who have xp-ed their way to 40-45 and have done very little RvR inbetween. My real life legally wedded for example, is a lev 43 warrior, and one day was helping to take DC along with a fair number of less experienced RvRers. Sure things didnt go as well as they could have and it took longer than it normally would have...but what DOESNT help is our "so called" leaders on /as slagging these guys off, telling them they are an embarrassment to Midgard and so on. And yes it did happen, on that occasion and on several others that I have been either part of or witness to, and Im sure on other occasions that I havent been part of either personally or vicariously. So...Im not surprised now when people think twice about joining in on RvR events.
It is up to the leaders to lead, to set an example and teach and encourage... NOT preach and discourage. Share the knowledge and experience you have gained with your hundreds of thousands of RPs with those of your realm mates who have substantially less. If you cant do this, then shut up or step down from the leadership.
By the way... good job Albion... you managed to organise and motivate a substantial force early on a Sunday morning. You had a plan, you stuck to it and it paid off. As has been said, with the Uber guards insane pop rate and NPC casters now in place, these tactics are going to have a much higher chance of success nowadays. GOD! How I hate to agree with Layl but you did hit us when we were at our weakest and now... you have 2 relic keeps to defend Good luck!

I'll say it again for the record - realms will raid whatever time they choose to do so... if this means middies at 4am, then fine, hibs at 5am, then fine, or albs at 9am, also fine. I won't whinge or moan of it happens to us, but I will bait, taunt and generally irritate people who do come and moan if it happens to them.....

Relics are soooooo pre-1.49. Are you all like totally missing the trend and stuff?
