Did you miss all the protests?

I'm talking about Putin not Mr Belarus.

Also, distracting the population from an internal issue with an external issue is pretty common with these dudes, I just think we should step lightly so we don't just fuel a bonfire they're setting up.

I don't get why we don't just completely isolate these fucking shit pot countries. Well I do know, $$$

Oh, all that wealth stored in the west? Cancer research are very grateful, thank you.

Same with the Saudis. What's that, you persecute the gays? Thanks for the cash!

In the case of Russia its because the Germans gave them a gun (natural gas supplies) and the Russians put it to their head. Add in Germany's knee-jerk decision to de-nuclearise after Fukushima, and it just got worse. HOWEVER, the reliance on Russian gas is going away year on year; although the volume is staying about the same, its dropped from 20%+ of Germany's needs in 2011 to under 14% in 2020, but that's still significant (especially because without it they can' t close off coal and nuclear on time).

If the EU could bin off Russian gas quickly you'd see far more severe sanctions against Putin (and Belarus is just his lapdog) but without that I'm afraid we'll just get huffing and puffing and little else, at a time when they're doing shit that would be enough to start wars in days gone by; Russian hackers bringing down the health system of a sovereign nation and international piracy from Belarus (if you've ever read about the Trent Affair during the American Civil War, its not unlike what happened yesterday and Britain nearly went to war over that).

Having effectively broken the 'Chigao Accords' Belarus could be banned from international aviation. Depends on what the member countries will allow to happen. I think they have to be seen to do something.

The Belarus KGB wouldn’t do anything like this without approval from Russia. They should be punished too.

we should live like this all the time. Its better for the environment and its better for us. As long as you are not a social butterfly

Pretty much everyone on the planet but you is a social butterfly m8. Sorry to burst your bubble.

There's lots of things I'd put a stop to immediately and unapologetically if I had the power to do so. But curbing human interaction would definitely not be on that radar. It's part of us as an animal - and curbing that would be an act of self-harm and self-hate for the vast majority of us.

This is cool. Makes you wonder why we don't rebalance our economies to value intellectual advancement and science instead of megayachts for the rich:

If it wasn't for the fact that the fashion industry fucks kids up (especially poor ones who's parents can't afford to follow fads) I'd scrap all clothing standards and requirements for schools.

It's just another form of normalisation and repression.

Lol

'French fashion tycoon Bernard Arnault is the world's richest person this Monday morning, with an estimated net worth of $186.3 billion—putting him $300 million above Jeff Bezos, who is worth $186 billion, and Elon Musk, worth $147.3 billion.'

When '.3' is $300million.

Lol :(

I'd definitely put a personal ceiling of wealth at 1bn.

The rest should be going into health, education & research and environment.

Yeah. It's amazing the bullshit billionaires and their government apologists come up with.

It's even more amazing that the idiot public swallows it.

But...think of the yacht builders! Why won't anyone think OF THE YACHT BUILDERS?

First thing that came to my mind was that apparently Bezos is having a paddock for his horses built on his megayacht.

I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. But I suspect I'm not.

Who'd be gainfully employed in other areas when the 185 billion of additional funding got taken off Jeff and put to work doing 'public good' - rather than sitting, useless, swelling Bezos' coffers...

...of course, he'd still be a billionaire...

I think the thing gets me the most about all this is the differential treatment by 'the authorities' from taxation to getting warehouse rent for peanuts because 'they provide employment'.

We're really trying to make businesses so big that they can't fail - problem is that they all mostly do at some stage and the bigger they are the harder they fall.

I wouldn't disagree with any one who said it is a sickening amount of money, or should I say worth, but the problem is and always has been is how are you going to get it and no matter how much some people whinge people still haven't come up with a single workable way to get it.

Mostly through taxation I would imagine.

But it's still middle class people complaining about money ;) It's all relative.
