From a more technical perspective, Robinhood doesn't actually send its orders to the market. They send it to a broker, Citadel, who pays them for the order flow. Citadel accounts for 40% of US retail trades. If Citadel is now no longer executing Gamestop buy orders, then there's not much Robinhood can do. They should have had other paths to the market as a responsible brokerage, but that costs money, time and resources to maintain.

Citadel bailed out Melvin Capital earlier this week, after they lost $4 billion on their GameStop trades.

Coincidence?

Don't believe so. Dom Raab tried to sweep it under the carpet this side of the pond as well. She does have diplomatic immunity I believe, but obviously that doesn't mean she should. Just stinks of cronyism, elite protecting the protecting the elite etc. Everything the Dems are supposed to stand against.

Well this is the problem, if she was in fact immune to prosecution then there isn't a great deal he can do, even if he wanted to. The international law would need to be changed and even then, it probably wouldn't make much difference to this case.

There are very important reasons why diplomats and their families are given immunity from prosecution, obviously this case is not the intention of the law, she killed someone because she can't tell left from right. But the laws in general are there to protect diplomats from being brought up on dodgy charges. I guess...

Again though, why would Biden show himself to be nice to other countries at the detriment of the respect of his own people when the country he's being nice to doesn't give a shit?

It's interesting though, I know an American lad who works at a US Airbase in the UK and he said people on the base always talk about their fuck ups and near misses, especially with the younger American country kids who are used to deserted roads for miles.

Yep of course, hence why I mentioned cronyism etc. I do understand it all, but I'm also extremely angry about it. I find it mad that people are up in arms about the copper who killed George Floyd (obviously they are correct to be up in arms) but something like this barely gets a mention.

Because of course as we know, that fee only covers the speaking gig, and Citadel will request nothing else in addition for that fee.....

Immunity is not automatic; while high level diplomats have automatic immunity for family members, lower ranked diplomats (in the UK that basically means anyone not working in the Embassy itself, and specifically anyone not based in London) have what's called "functional immunity", which basically immunity related to things directly related to their job. So not only did Anne Sacoolas not have automatic immunity in the case, her husband probably wouldn't have had it either. The Americans retroactively gave her immunity and spirited her home. This isn't a Treaty of Vienna issue, this is a "fuck you limeys" issue. The problem, for Biden is that he doesn't want to rock the boat with the CIA a week into the new job, so he'll follow the party line. The family might have been better advised to let Biden get his feet under the table before approaching him.

I read early that there is a special immunity agreement in place with the RAF base at which her and her husband were based. Not sure if that changes what you're saying.

Not really because its still not unlimited immunity. Even if they applied functional immunity to her, running over a motorcyclist isn't part of anyone's job description.

Isnt this immunity thing just an excuse for the usa not to hand her over.

if the police had gotten to her before they rushed to fly her back to the usa i am sure it wouldnt have been an easy excuse to use.

Agreed, but running over a motorcyclist may well be a trumped-up/false charge in other countries either for leverage or straight up dickishness. Not that proper fucked up countries respect the rules, but as a layman I guess that is part of the intention of the law.

I very much doubt it was intentional, it is down to her being a complete fuckwit that forgot that we drive on the correct side of the road. A horrible accident but that does not stop it from being at least causing death by driving without due care and attention, at worst, manslaughter. There ought to be a mechanism in the law that allows extradition after the fact. Perhaps some sort of judgement from the international courts whether there is a case to answer? Maybe that is what the family should be pushing for?

Oh I'm not even getting into the rights and wrongs of the case itself, but rather the simple fact the US routinely protects its own while not extending the same courtesy to others. If the roles were reversed and a British diplomat's wife ran over an American, she'd be in a US prison right now (I seem to remember an Indian diplomat's wife getting locked up because she underpaid her maid). The US routinely exercises double standards, not because the law says so, but simply because they can, treaties be damned.

Biden does have the power to send her back, and there's no legal barrier to that, but you know how it works, he'd need something from the British, and have something over the CIA, before he'd ever do that.

Audit needs finalising and signing off
EU folk are still being thick about Brexit (yeah, not their problem etc) not providing the correct information to get things through customs
Year-end still needs to be finalised and now moving into month end.

And my bosses brother died this morning, out of the blue, don't know the details, and he is officially uncontactable, absolutely fair enough. So looks like myself and a colleague are pulling 10-hour days tomorrow and Sunday to get everything squared away, I've already done 60 hours extra this month.

I'm going to buy myself something fucking stupid, seriously thinking about a down payment on a fucked canal boat. I can do the internals myself and can moor it about 5 miles away.
