Until local authorities allow people to run businesses without crippling business rates in places where people can drive to and park so they can collect things then it will stay dead as well.Yup, we bought a large amount of stuff online previously, one of the largest online consumers around, even more so now.
They are on about turning one of our town centre shopping centres into flats soon, its full of card shops atm.

People haven't needed department stores since at least 2007. Bhs, Debenhams, Beales and all the others have been falling a miserable death. Markup on some products were always ludicrous, especially when compared to online, where i don't have to move.
Ultimately the biggest factor for me was the cost of parking, and lack of parking in my area, that drove me away from the town centres.
