And to think. Before lockdown we used to scoff at ratemypoo.com

Now inspecting, photographing, and posting your poo gives you something to do. You don't even have to get up from the sofa to do it :)

Brought some memory foam pillows this week and got them last night. Apart from having to get use to the "push back" compared to my old one... I don't remember the last time I had a better sleep.

They mean a bit of both (of course).

But absolutely we're in discussions over a "new normal" and what it means for presence and required infrastructure.

Personally, I only rocked up 1 day in 14 anyway :)

Barclays boss: Big offices 'may be a thing of the past'

They mean Indians taking your jobs dont they.

Not really. They've already done that. There's a LOT of discussion about systematic home working going on in our place now. Personally I like being in an office and face-to-face time, but that's because we've been shit at putting the right tools in; which is annoying because my team have been advocating this stuff for years.

Lots of big organisations are suddenly looking at the massive buildings they've invested in and realised they don't actually need them. Its creating some interesting debates and the commercial property market could be in serious long-term bother.

I can't imagine it's a big problem where I work (head office) as the land in this area must have cost about thirty quid :)

Commercial rents in Dublin were massively overheated, and there was a general consensus that there wasn't enough office space to hoover up post-Brexit-flight, but I would imagine people will be doing very different calculations now.

Certainly every gauge is going into the red for office staff.

Pressure on commuting
Pressure on disease spread
Automation
Working from home....home could be Bombay.
Councils will be looking to raise business rent

Is there a single thing in favour of local people commuting to a central office?

Personally I still prefer face-to-face for creative tasks, but that's because I'm an old fart, I've done plenty of projects virtually as well, I just find face-to-face more intuitive.

I believe in the office to build community - you could have smaller work spaces utilised by different departments or sections each day.
There are reasons for keeping employees local (country) most of them practical
