I once got caught up with hundreds of 350Zs on that road, there’s obviously an event location around there somewhere.

So Im talking to my mate who designs jet engines for Rolls Royce through UTC or summit like that.
Anyway I said that theres no chance of electric planes and he replies that thats the biggest push in the sector.
A central jet engine providing power to external electric props...the drag would be massively reduced and then went on to drone about fan vs core push..but anyway he says the biggest issue stopping it is safety of an internal turbine and the fact that theres only one powering the electric engines.
Once they get around that we will start to see propeller driven planes again.

Hybrid-electric aircraft will almost certainly use ducted fans; open props are too noisy.

Possibly..it was too noisy to hear what he was saying properly...I think he might have said fans actually.

Aparently cultural marxism isn't a thing @Gwadien.

I'll no-platform you if you say it is. Or if you say we don't have free speech.

No.

Taking anyone out of history because of their views is frankly ridiculous, even if you've got people like Churchill who said some pretty fucked up shit, the question is how does that history impact the modern day? I'd say Churchill's personal views have little impact, you don't see many people quoting him compared to the likes of Powell so it doesn't really matter.

Scouse are you for or against mass survellience..its not really clear.
How is it not clear when I've stated explicitly and recently that I'm against mass surveillance, that I don't, like you, have a facebook account (because, like you do, that's volunteering for mass surveillance, whether you have it on your phone or PC) and that I'm against databases that can be used as tools of oppression.

The car insurance database is not ever going to be a tool of oppression. Nor is the MOT database. But you can't tell the difference there...

This dude rides his fatbike solo across the wildest parts of America..so melancholy...his voice the music.
Couldnt do it myself.

View: https://youtu.be/P88L0mySkpo

Fatbike is absolutely the tool for that, but he pushes loads that he could ride by the looks of it. But then, I bet he was fooked. 39.8 miles / day average seems a little on the low side but no point in risking injury.

For those of you with BBC access, dust devils in Llandridod Wells in Wales 'cause of the heat. I'm off round the corner from there this weekend as I've booked a place with a wood-fired hot tub.

What the hell am I going to need a hot tub for?! I may just sit in it cold! :D

How's everyone enjoying the heat? I took a couple of fly days off, was 32c up in Aviemore, but pressed on all the way up into Assynt near the Atlantic frontier.

Immaculate, untouched beaches with crystal clear water.

It'd be a nicer pic if you'd taken a couple of steps to the right and avoided that crappy abandoned bike... :(

So there's a load of land around me (2000+ hectares) that's been bought up by a Dutch consortium with a view to creating a bunch of golf courses and hotels and stuff, they've been buying land since the 70s but have never got anywhere with permission to do anything with it. Anyway, their most recent idea appears to be a big fuck-off dance festival, which landed last night and has resulted in all sorts of ne'er-do-wells traipsing up the lane towards it.

They've got permission to do it, there are gendarmes all over the shop (including a couple of helicopters) and they've got a couple of fire engines on standby in the village (it's been bloody hot and the ground is drier than Mother Teresa's snatch). But it's less than 1km away from my house, you'd have thought they would have the courtesy to at least notify the village. It's supposedly running until Tuesday ffs. The mad thing is there must be 10000 people there and I have absolutely no idea how they've promoted it. There are no signs or posters around anywhere - I was talking to one of the coppers earlier and he said "nah you won't see posters". The fucker made me feel old like he was saying "hah, as if you know how these things are promoted nowadays". I've been looking on t'inter and there's no sign of anything like this anywhere (no obvious Facebook groups or anything).

For the record, it sounds awesome - it was techno bollocks earlier but they've been playing some right tunes this evening. That's not the point though.
