One of Carl Sagans books covers the remote repair of Voyagers and Pioneers, the level of inginuity is unbelievable, they have exact copies on the ground exposed to the same conditions, so they can work out what degrades and what various temperatures are.
One of the probes lost Earth lock, they guessed what had gone wrong and waited for the exact time the Earth would cross the path of the spinning beam, they nailed it and sent a quick message that caused the probe to overheat the gas powered dish actuator, this moved the beam an exact.amount which they picked up again on a second Earth crossing which determined they had the right fault.
Then they sent a message telling it to cook a capacitor, which rerouted power on the board just enough to allow for the dodgy sensor that lost lock.
Just unbelievable, and they continue the mission allowing for these changes.

Until they start taxing the electricity the same as petrol...which they will have to in some form or another.
So 15pkwh will have to become 60p.
Obviously theres cheap night tariffs which will go out the window presumably when everyones doing it.
Guess its going to be gps chip...how many miles you do at what time and where you drive....welcome to the new world.

So what was the point. He wouldnt be able to get away with it now. Things have changed for the better.

If clapton posted them today he would be ostracised unfortunately you cant do that with a leader of one of the biggest political powers in the world. However much you want to. But you can still call him a cunt and many are.

My point is that things have not changed because everyone's morality has improved, its because the consequences of airing your xenophobia...which is what that rant was, he wasnt being racist, has ramped up hugely.
People still hate mass immigration, they just keep it to themselves and sum up the audience before telling the truth.

He was being both xenophobic and racist. By using racist and derogatory terms to describe the people he was being xenophobic about.

People hate change. Mass migration makes change happen quickly. Its not the migration people are worried about its the consequences of it mostly.

Will there be enough services. Enough schools etc. What happens to my job. Apart from the far extremists these days its more that fear than being racist these days.

Back in the sixties and seventies it was seen as acceptable to treat people as an under race.

No, he said he didnt want black and saudis in England...he didnt say there was anything wrong with them, just he didnt want them here...the racism is filled in by by the presumption of the listener...which in itself is is stereotyping.

Though Im pretty sure, certainly then he didnt hold them in high esteem.
