Company have been involved in some testing of LT and 5G in northern Europe and reached speeds of over 500 Mbps. On a Mobile device I really do not seen the value in that, great tech for sure. At a network level it is a massive benefit if implemented properly in metropolitan areas.

I'm getting 40mp 4G in a camp site in Cornwall...
The mobile net is leaving the wired one behind in the sticks.

Oi @Big G - do you think the weather's looking rank up your way for the next week or so? Got ten days from 4pm this afternoon and am torn on whether to come up Scotland or book a week somewhere warm.

I never really trust the net weather and prefer a local's take on it. So do you reckon the forecast looks grim, or worth chancing my arm because they're generally overly pessimistic?

It's forecast to snow over the hills until Sunday and Fort William will struggle to get above 10c. The snow would suggest cold winds and air mass, so it's going to be pretty shitty up here at least for the long weekend. Those sorts of forecast would suggest squally and changeable conditions with no lack of stability, you're going to get isolated pockets of sun (and it'll be quite warm) but it'll be "very varied" at best.

You may be luckier later next week as high pressure is set to push in from the west.

Edit: put it this way, I was going to go hillwalking this weekend but decided to sack it due to "severe buffeting" at higher altitude :).

Gah. Car's packed. Kayaks are on the roof, bikes will be on the back shortly. Fuck it.

Creative excuses for not doing the laundry #374: Ah you see if the laundry basket is empty the cat jumps into it, then scares himself getting out , so in the interests of the cat's welfare, I decided against it.

Water resistant, not proof.

Doesn't that depend on which Sony phone it is?

Sony website blurb said:
*In compliance with IP65 and IP68, the Xperia M2 Aqua is protected against the ingress of dust and is waterproof. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) dust tight and (ii) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP65; and/or (iii) can be kept under 1.5 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP68. Abuse and improper use of device will invalidate warranty. For more information see Water and dust resistance – all you need to know – Sony Xperia™ M2 Aqua support (Ireland)

Wow, I've had three consecutive Sony phones and never had a problem. Am I just lucky?

I had the Xperia Z2, never had an issue. I had to ditch it though as I dropped it and must have cracked something internally. The backlight kept going out, which renders the phone useless.

I have the Pixel XL now, a superb phone.

They're all water resistant. Sony may call it waterproof, but that's just marketing. They're designed to survive a quick blast of rain, or being dropped momentarily in a sink. Go swimming with them and you'll be disappointed.

Supposed to be down to five meters for 30 minutes but can't survive a wet pocket.

Plus loads of other things. Sony = shite.

Edit: Sony advertised people swimming under the sea taking pictures with them...
