Our new TV came with 3D, but no glasses, and we're not in any way inclined to figure out if the glasses for the old telly work, as we used those once to watch Gravity, thennever touched them again in 3 years.
For immersion VR will be the way forwards - for "ooh purdy" you need HDR. I've been rewatching the Grand Tour in full 4K HDR, far more jaw dropping than 3D ever was.
