Question:

Microsoft are doing their 128Gb/4Gb ram/i5 Surface Pro 4 at a discount at the moment (to 16th September). It's usually £849, but I can get that, the type cover (£109) and some Master & Dynamic ME05 Earphones for £829.

Worth it? Or should I man up and buy either a Surface Book (expensive) or a Dell XPS 13 (less expensive, less spangly)?

I do like to type. The new keyboard is supposed to be good. But am I fooling myself. And with the dell being so small, is that a non-starter?

I feel my arteries hardening just looking at that!

I might have to take a trip there...

It's glorious! Just the basics, standard two patties but you can choose to have one extra (~2 quid), pickled onions and two different kind of cheese.

What kind of technological throwback still buys apple products?
I said the same thing to one of my guys this morning as he was watching a vid on the new iShiny 7. When I took the piss out of the new features his response was that it had two camers for better photos! :)

"Buy our shit headphones" disguised as progress. I bet the Apple lovers will enjoy it, right up to the moment they run out of battery.

Apple stuff amazes me. A few weeks ago I offered a colleague a series to watch, I had it stored on an ickle micro USB memory card. On Android, I just plug it into the phone/tablet and it appears as a drive. Can't do that with Apple apparently, you have to upload it to iTunes and then download it to your device. What a joke.

And if its any file format other than MP4 it won't play anyway.

And yet, I'll almost certainly end up with a 7. More than 50% of our customers use iPhones (and Android is so hopelessly fragmented that there's no such thing as a reference Android device), and they spend more than Android customers as well, so it makes sense to have the same device as one's customers. I actually think the headphone thing is going to be a disaster though (millions of bent Lightning connectors. Its inevitable), just so Apple can flog wireless headphones and give Beats (which they should never have bought in the first place) a lift.

Depends what you want it for. We had one on Eval, with a view to replacing our Dell Ultrabooks. We're buying more Ultrabooks :)

The Surface Pro is a great executive toy, but as a device to actually get some work done, they're a bit shit. I'll dig out the email from my boss where he listed the issues he had, but I do remember him spending 2 weeks swearing at it.

The keyboard is not good at all, horrible to type on and my US colleague got through 3 in 6 months.

The Samsung Tab Pro looks a better device, but I'd stick with the Dell. I've had a Latitude 7440 through work for 2.5 years, and it's been awesome.

But it does allow better photos, not to mention RAW editing of said photos. It'll be lambasted, then implemented on a whole host of non-Apple phones at which point it'll be the best thing ever. Both Apple and Android are guilty of that.

Why is YouTube pestering me about desktop notifications? I don't know what they are but I know I don't want them.
