The lead is the problem..most aftermarket leads just cant supply the current..especially longer ones..if the lead isnt good enough you get a voltage drop...micro usb is such a shite connector anyway..they need to ditch it for something more robust and future proof...allready my Note 3 has to have a dreadful twin plug abortion to get usb3.
If you are over volting the charge you can get weird effects on the phone...some chargers make my phone boot up random apps by itself.

Or you're using cables that have pins 4 and 5 shorted, which will limit the current to 0.5 amps.

A cable doesn't have to be that big to carry 3 amps, but you're right, a cable that looks similar to what comes with in-ear headphones will be useless.

basically awhile ago there was a video of a guy beating up a dog, punching it in the head, kicking it etc, he recorded the video because he thought it was funny, he then put the video online. Someone tracked him down and did the same to him, recorded it and stuck it online, this is the video - VERY GRAPHIC and extremely NSFW/Young audiences.

This is utterly mental, he deserved a kicking for what he did but this is just mad.

Also, why spread the video further? The story of what happened is enough. Spreading the video just encourages other that it is "cool" and that they might become "internet celebs". Vigilantism might seems necessary sometimes but it is a slippery slope.

All the donations go towards the server and software costs (or rather towards partially reimbursing @Deebs who pays them all). We don't have the stats but it is my understanding that the subs have never come close to the costs, ever.

Yes and when he ran down the costs I believe he said this was the last year he was going to take a massive hit on it. Which is understandable but if the community is going to have any chance of funding the hosting we need to know how far away we are.

I hate reading things like this. I read another article about this which basically suggested he has got rid of a load of old white dudes and is replacing them with young women. And not because any of them are bad at their job suddenly. But because people think he has too many old men in his cabinet and that voters at the next general election might like younger women more. I would like to think to get a senior position running our country you needed more than being young and female but the way the article I read worded it makes me wonder.

Last time round Deebs said it was over £1000 and the subscriptions bought in less than £200 at that time so he was taking a huge hit out of his own pocket. I think we have a fair few more subscribers now though.

Except @Deebs has not wished to do this historically so unless he changes his mind you're looking at a dead end. We've asked before. The mods have always been behind easing Deebs burden but we cannot force him to do anything with what is his.

Hi,

Over the years since this place was setup the sub costs have come nowhere near the amount invested by myself, not even 10%. There are a multitude of costs involved, hosting, DNS, software licences, mods, kit to name but a few (not including the personal time myself and the team have put in). I think I mentioned somewhere else before I will never ever put FH (and all the private data) anywhere near shared hosting, it says on dedicated hardware period.

There is no closure imminent so please put that thought out of your minds as quickly as possible. Hope this clears things up.
