The nearer your arse is to the water the less distance the log falls so I would have thought less splash? There is a danger of a particularly large log full of air uprighting and gently kissing the underside of your arse, or worse your scrotum, before submitting to gravity and floating

but its also less distance for the splash to travel back up to your arse which in this case is a bad thing
