There's an Oceana in Notts.
And Cardiff, and Brighton, and Plymouth, and Watford, and probably some others. Luminar (then creators/owners of the Oceana brand) bought a lot of nightclubs (mostly what were previously The Works and Destiny clubs) from The Nightclub Company (formerly First Leisure) when they went into administration in '05 iirc. Now it looks like Luminar have gone tits up as well and Oceana Wolves and Birmingham have both shut down.

Skip to 13m for it to start.
Well, yeah, I would've thought the massive clock in the middle of the screen gave that away. :p It was a captured live broadcast so I guess that's why it doesn't start straight away (I expect some other users have cut that out and re-uploaded it).

It's pretty hilarious though, really. The creationist guy is all like "mumble mumble mumble BIBLE" and "you can't prove it, you weren't there! Whereas I have this book that lays it all out so clearly" and Nye responds brilliantly with... facts and provable science. Some of the stuff the creationist guy comes out with is just utterly mindboggling.

My town shopping centre is run down...used to be quite posh then the scallys took it over...they are like a slowly spreading scourge...just more and more toothless ragasses and less and less nice people.
Roads by used to be full of professionals are now in flats with doleys and quite simply tattooed common people.

Anyone know where @Wazzerphuk has gone?

Also, I noticecd @Cerb has gone awol too, suppose he did get married though.
Sorry for the absence of late chaps. I'm not sure if you remember, but I was on here a while back patting myself on the back about the fact I'd just been offered a great job?

Well it turns out that when you finally you get the great job with the exceptional people, you have to step up your own game to be on their level. I've got a lot less time to dick around on t'internet these days unfortunately. :(

Not wanting to make things too easy on myself, the missus and I decided to buy a house around the start of december. Long story short I've spent my days up to my eyes in work and my evenings balls deep in mortgages. Being a grown up is fun....

On the plus side after 3 months of this new job I feel like I could walk into another production company and comfortably perform the job of a person 2-3 "job titles" above me, and my wife and I are moving into this place Friday:

Hopefully things slow down over the next few months and I'll be able to become more active again!

The whole "You weren't there" argument made me turn it off. That's all it takes for me to give up.

Heh, you missed a really doozy in the Q&A section at the end then...
Question (to the creationist muppet): do you believe the entire bible should be taken literally?

Creationist muppet: We have to define our terms. So, when people ask that question and say "literally", I have to know what that person meant by "literally".

It means literally ffs!

These days? It's literally used wrong half the time :p

Not to mention verbally and anally.

I'd make a great creationist though. Not that i'd make good points, or valid points, or bring anything to the table that would give creationists a leg to stand on, but i'd sure as hell annoy the opposition as f*ck.

My mum lived in Wolves for a couple of years in the early 70's iirc, she said it was a lovely place. I told her about the groups of asian lads walking around the town centre with (probably illegal) dogs tryiing to look 'ard (and the shooting on the front door of the club and the stabbing on the kids' night) and she refuses to believe it. Is Oceana still open? I know the company (Luminar) was going into administration last year sometime but I haven't really been keeping track of my beloved Atlantis.

Oceania is now open under the new guise of 'Faces'. The nightlife has actually been revived quite a bit over the past three years, coinciding with the regeneration of the University. Weren't just asian lads, was mixed white/black/asian, for a multicultural place Wolverhampton does quite well in terms of not being totally segregated (hence Wolves large asian fanbase), but then everyone falls under the same hardships these days. Stabbings are a bit common but comes with the turf in some cases, was in one my local pubs about two years ago when a bloke about 10 steps away from got stabbed.

Your right about that but it's just more areas have become 'rough'. Decline in work, leads to a decline in the standard of life. The GoodYear factories laying off thousands for example caused massive issues round where I lived.

Out of curiosity, where did your mom live?

I don't think anyone can be surprised by this can they? The PC market is a bloodbath for everyone right now; frankly I'm surprised the Vaio line has lasted this long. The TV market is more of a self-inflicted wound though; they've let Samsung and LG steal their crown completely. I still think Sony should have used PlayStation as their USP in smart TVs; total lack of joined up thinking in that company.

They don't seem to have recognised that in the age of the internet, proper reviews are available within seconds. Two TVs that do exactly the same thing and score similarly, one is £599 the other £699. Easy choice for Joe Public. If it wasn't for Playstation, which is some years off breaking into profit what with dev costs and such, Sony would be a name of the past.

Their phones are uninspiring and on the whole feel cheap and nasty
Their TVs are too expensive for the same features as cheaper rivals
The personal music player is dead, everyone uses phones now (see no 1)

In the near future they are tying up playstation into a lot of their A/V equipment and releasing a lot of the PS1, 2 (and possibly) 3 back catalogue

They're a pretty dysfunctional company by all accounts. Too many years spent protecting outdated business models has left them with catch-up products. There was a time, not that long ago, when a Sony TV would have been my default choice; that hasn't been the case for ages, despite the fact that Bravias are actually price competitive with the Koreans these days. As for the phones, its come to a weird place when buying Sony is seen as a left-field choice.

This is what I was talking about. They should have been doing this at least five years ago; the barriers to doing so weren't technical.

True but look at something like Beats, cool but shit product, sold millions. Sony had that brand cool for audio for freaking decades and did nothing good to push it, they always had to come out with something technologically incompatible with everything, MiniDisc anyone? They need to get their quality back. PS4 has quality, some of the phones do (though they wouldn't be my first choice, that's why @Bodhi exists anyway ;)) but everywhere else they lost the plot.

I had a minidisc player, it was fantastic at the time! But yeah, it was never going to take off in the long run.

In his trailer-park, mind you. Apparently there is a bus-stop fifty meters away, where he sends those poor vics; leaving them with change for a few stations.
