I come across them a lot..the mid forties to mid fifties..jesus fucking christ..the poor husband just lies low...one woman took a screaming , stamping tantrum because I asked her to move her vegetable rack so I could get at the gas meter.
We got back from lunch and she'd thrown all our tools in the garden and locked herself in the house
Another parked her car on the drain hose and the husband asked if we could tell her because he was too scared because she would kill him.

In the past people rarely lived long enough to go through the menopause so that solved that problem.

I want to install a plug socket in the basement which has no electricity. Anyone know how much of a job this is? Can I do it myself or will I need to get an electrician in? It doesn't have to look nice.

Do you want to install a plug socket with no electricity or do you want to install a socket into a basement which currently has no electricity :D
One you can do with prit stick, the other one you might want to watch a wickes video or two (and hire a sparky).

I think you are now supposed to get an electrician in to do anything beyond changing a light bulb :p

There was a law change a few years back that horribly restricted what you could do without being an electrician in the name of safety. Then the recession hit and I think a lot of people just ignore it.

Does depress me that no-one on my Facebook mentioned the helicopter crash in Glasgow, but when a Celebrity dies, everyone's in tears.

I was going to do a guinness/whiskey pilot need drink related joke, but thought it would've been too soon and too crap.

It would indeed i'd say. Perhaps you could do something on the surfer who died after being attacked by a shark in Australia, in other news.

Re the menopause... I have suffered from hormonal imbalances for the majority of my life, some of the symptoms are similar to menopause.. Imagine the following scenarios:-
1). Your chest (ill use chest as you do not know what it is like to have breasts) itching so much you would quite happily flay them it would only stop... Then imagine what it would be like if that happened whilst in a board meeting?
2). Imagine then you become overwhelmed with the most intense heat, you can feel sweat dripping down your back it is so warm combined with the fact you feel really unattractive and then your STM becomes fucked....

These two symptoms alone are enough if your not prepared to put you on edge but then throw in some chemical imbalances and yes it can be quite easy to flip out. I can only give my own experience of how this usually happens...

I'm actually quite happy and then someone will say something right at the wrong moment and then I just see red... As I have had these issues for a while I am now quite well equipped to deal with myself.. Usually I shut myself away until I feel better, if however I am at work and world avoidance is not possible I work through it usually without running my mouth off at some poor unsuspecting soul.

I asked my Drs if this would become 'uncontrollable' during the menopause, I am happy to say that for me things shouldn't get worse..

I had the option and was medicated for my imbalances when I was in my early 20s but I found myself crying a lot and I hated that so stopped... When I told my Dr why I'd stopped she told me that the crying was a normal state... My reaction 'fuck that'!! So I have learned to cope without.... Occasionally, very occasionally I fail however I have yet to humiliate myself in public and I'd like to think I won't ;)

For those of you whose partners have a short fuse or have bouts of irrationality I suggest the first thing to check is whether a different birth control medication would be better. You can now have localised hormone implants for example which are better that the pill :)

I think it's because celebrities are not quite real and thus safe but the glasgow disaster happened to real people and so they see themselves.

No, it's not, in the slightest, people are just damn pig ignorant to the world around them, they probably had -no- idea that the Glasgow disaster happened because there wasn't much about it on Facebook.

But because this guy is a celebrity, and everyone is now mega upset, because if you're not upset, you don't like celebrities, and therefore you're weird.

My had the implant for about a year of our 4 year relationship and went mad. ABSOLUTELY STARK RAVING MAD.
