No, just no. An equaliser so soon after the first goal would have given England massive confidence and would have shellshocked ze Germans. They may still have won the game, but it would have been a far more close run thing.

Ballcocks. England were dreadful & the Germans wouldn't have faltered. They were by far the better side. You can't compare England to Spain - and it took a side of Spain's calibre to knock the Krauts out. Because if Spain had lost, Germany would have crushed Holland.

Youre both right partly.

The psychological advantage of the lead goal(in any game) is great, and to a -lesser- extent the equalising goal, but also if a game ends 4-2, there are other variables at play that would suggest that the game would've been lost/won still.

It is afterall a double-score.

I)t's speculation who would have won, but the safer bet would be to say that the winning team of 4-2 would have won -even if- at one point it was 2-2.

but even if it had of stood i doubt it would have changed the result, both goals were against the run of play as it was and 2-2 at half time would of flattered england, we still would have been outplayed and ended up losing, i have no doubt

It's just so fun when american yardball(football would work too, since they try to gain feet/yards/etc) gets bashed by footie fans, usually because "they all padded!" and they don't realise footie is filled with princess players who fall over more then paris hilton whenever anything foot long comes near them
