A logician's wife is having a baby. The doctor immediately hands the newborn to the dad.
His wife asks impatiently: "So, is it a boy or a girl" ?
The logician replies: "yes".

What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

Benadryl young man.

I used to get it so bad it would lead to massive nosebleeds and asthma attacks, ruined most summers in my teens. Has been better in recent years though.

Why do all girl Tennis players make squeaky orgasm noises now. I just saw Sharapova lose and it was stupid they were overlapping with the orgasms.

Just watched a fascinating Horizon on BBC about Black Holes

Amazing photographs of galaxies taken in both visible and xray wavelengths. With visible light, you see the classic galaxy thing - stars, clouds of gas, etc. But viewed with xray specs, and the supermassive black hole at the centre of every galaxy is seen pumping out unbelievably vast amounts of radiation across the universe at insane extremes of temperature, speed, and distance. And a feeding black hole far from being invisible shoots out the most luminous and energetic sources of light in the universe (they didn't mention Gamma Ray Bursts).

Will be on iplayer shortly

is that the black hole itself doing the gamma spunking or the stuff it's eating?

As material is drawn towards the black hole's staggering gravity, its broken down by the tidal forces into its individual particles, and spins about the black hole at immense speeds. As the particles rub up against each other the friction produces heat and light, a trillion times more luminous than our own sun.

If you were planning on cooking your sausages near a black hole, I'd suggest sun glasses. And at least factor 30 sun-block. And don't stare directing into the maddening vortices of energy either.

(The Sausage Meson and the Bacon Boson are the only two sub-atomic particles in the universe that can withstand the colossal tidal forces of a feeding black hole.)

... they didn't mention Gamma Ray Bursts ...

Instead of gas falling into the black hold over a long period, GRB's are large objects colliding with the Black Hole and releasing all their energy in a very short period of time. Either a star, a neutron star or even another black hole. GRB's are the most powerful single events in Astronomy.

I'd rather the show had been about them as the rest wasn't really new to me. Still, it'll be interesting to see what's going to happen in a few months.

Doesn't everyone know about the Pigs Bacon particle theory? I thought this was common knowledge.

The womens' is probably more graceful but you have to admire the athleticism in the mens' game, especially when two *great* players go at it.
