Someone want to explain how having an ubuntu smartphone is going to be any different to a custom Android ROM like Cyanogen or Paranoid Android? I mean, your average user isn't bothered about how its programmed, as long as it looks epic, is fast, silky smooth, and everything works, right?

Just bought one of those Android plug ins for the TV, plugs into HDMI port, powered by micro usb and has full sized usb for wireless mouse or hub.
25 quid off ebay, I mean holy fuckwits, it plays 1080 faultlessly, connects over wifi, has full playstore and is nice and quick in the menus.
The PC has just been sacked.
It'd gloriously Chinese geeky as well, comes with all the emulators and Street fighter rom.
Strangely loaded with trailer for Fast and Furious.

It actually looks as though someone has put thought into the UI design to be honest. That video appealed to me more than the latest version of iOS does and I've been happy with my iPhone 3GS for about 3 years. All Android has ever had going in my eyes is that you could install what you wanted on it, the button system never appealed, it's a phone not a browser. To me, if Ubuntu/Canonical deliver, this could be the best of both worlds, i.e. nice simple useable UI which you can run whatever you like on.

I really wasn't blown away by Ubuntu. "Search for anything on line or on your phone instantly" - seriously? I can do that already using stock google search. It automatically brings up everything on my phone and the net. And "instantly" is only as instant as your internet connection. And whats with the obsession with social networking? Facebook is so 2012. I've seen nicer looking custom Android ROMS when it comes to eye candy. Fuck eye candy. Get working on nano-batteries, guys.
