Are you using one of their newer hub/router things for wifi? Cos those things are fking terrible...
You can enable modem only mode in the settings and plug it into another router

Ofc it could just be Virgin being shit, I've had outages for a couple hours overnight a lot in the last couple months (in edinburgh)

You're being throttled between 4pm and 10-11pm most likely. Happens to me when I've been downloading a lot.

Downloaded 45 gb yesterday but now do it overnight and pre about 3pm and it seems to help with how much they throttle...
