All part of the same enshittification problem. To be honest I don't use search engines at anymore (I'd switched to duck duck go ages ago, but it's not much better than Google) and just use copilot because the results filter out sponsored results and slop (for now), and I prefer asking conversational prompts to search terms.

I run my own instance of SearXNG (there are loads of public-facing instances as well) - it's a little bit slow compared to a straight search (with Google or whatever) in the address bar because it's a metasearch and it pulls results from multiple search engines but it can be sped up by trimming the list of engines.
