Huge miss on the fact the culturally, we have changed - quite dramatically.

Technology has de-sensitized _everyone_ to drama and suffering, whatever form it may take a around the world.

Storming of an embassy by special forces? HUGE

Plane blown up? HUGE

Today? 3rd page, if that.

You can always rely on porn to push the frontiers of technology forward.

Nah. The whole point is that we haven't. He makes that point really clearly.

Yes, the things you point were true - in the early 90's when we had a shared experience. But since the dawn of the web - nope. We're at a cultural standstill.

Covid changed a lot of things, when I am in the office, I just turn up in jeans now. Not worn a shirt outside of a funeral, in years.

Amazing, but not exactly typical in terms of the amount you are likely to be exposed to in normal circumstances. Personally, we moved away from PTFE cookware some time ago.
That's not it. PFAS are a combination of about 1500 chemicals that are very long lasting and are used in all sorts of shit.

They're in the air we breathe and they're now global - they're found in the placentas of polar bears. Chronic exposure - the stuff we're all exposed to - will absolutely be having an effect. Just hard to prove it.

I don't doubt it but quantity does matter, most things in our environment have a different effect depending on exposure levels.

Apparently the marriage guidance service in Norfolk is called Related.

My girlfriend and I are trying for a baby; her Mum's agreed to help out. Just till I get hard.

As a child I was made to walk the plank. We couldn't afford a dog.

I bought a really nice 12 year old Scotch. Obviously his parents weren't pleased.

I asked my AI engine to generate an image. I noticed one of the people had 6 fingers on their hand. When I asked to correct it, the AI engine said "there's a problem generating humans with the correct number of fingers"

I think we're quite a way off from SkyNet

Lamp: [literally one click away from "Buy Now"] Yeah. I think a 7 ft snooker table would look nice in the lounge. Slate bed, rail pockets. You know I've been wanting one for years

Mrs: [assumes I'm joking of course] Haha very funny

Lamp: [not understanding]

Mrs: ...
and where am I supposed to sit of an evening ? In the kitchen ? It gets cold in the kitchen in winter

Lamp: [mental note to check out Ebay] I'll get you a portable heater and a blanket

Mrs: [just looks at me saying nothing]

Lamp: [muttering under breath] Of course I'm joking. I wouldn't put a 7 ft snooker table in the lounge would I ? [suddenly feels a brotherly bond with Basil Fawlty - No, that particular avenue of pleasure has been closed off....]
[sighing, shuts down web page]

Cup of tea, love?
