No idea! I have also seen that mythbuster episode btw
Maybe some sort of oil started leaking cause of the heat, tube melting or something. (I am in no way a guy with motorknowledge btw! )

The engine didn't set on fire though, it was just a streak of fire behind the tires.

So one liekly scenario could be that there was a leak(that kind of revving does really "good" to the engine...), it spilled on the tires, tires shot it back(can see the streak behind the tires) and a spark ignited it.

The spark could be anything really, i wouldn't count out a plug-malfunction, or even part of the tire being exposed.

Truely amazing footage, good find - I thought bad thing were gonna happen when he offered the machete though - It's amazing to think that them men, thought they knew everything, now they know nothing.
