There isn't a great deal you can do when the fire is turbo charged, well except not live there.

We have controlled fires every years in the forest and dunes around us, in fact they are doing it now.
Probably too dangerous in California..I dont know.
Googling it , would seem constantly fighting small fires around homes just builds up large amount of dry vegitation that goes up in a big one.
