This is next to the motorway by us, its called Dream..but funny thing is you cant see it from the motorway, you have to drive down some run down road and park in a closed down working mans club carpark to see it.

How would they operate an extension system? I am sure there is an appeals process like all traffic fines.

But forgetting is not a defence in law afaik

What an idiot for being on FB in the first place. Especially in a country that doesn't have freedom of speech.

The US has free speech, but it is not free from consequence. Could easily have been canned over here too for the same thing.

From an employer yes. Not from the law though. This has been reported to the police

Its just so easy to forget, there is a legal fight going on because the fukkers have issued 3 million quids worth of fines in 6 months.
Its hitting people going to Liverpool airport hard..of all the things to think about on holiday you have to log on and pay within 36 hours of arriving for your flight.
Its just ridiculous.

Do they not have a tag system? M50 tolls here just go straight off my debit card.

No..theres just a sign that says pay before midnight tomorrow at merseyflow.com.
Its all very good for traffic flow, but they are going to have to think of something better than everysingle person remembering after their journey to pay a fee online.
Regular commuters can set up a direct debit...but its now the only bridge across the mersey and used by 10s thousands of non locals.

I'll admit it is a pretty snazzy bridge.

They have done the same with the dartford crossing.

I must admit it puts me off using it. I know i am miles away from it now. But i used to use it quite a bit.

I prefer the tamar crossing toll where i have a tag and it charges me.

I guess its like driving into london with the congestion charge as well.

We used that going to Liverpool Airport a couple of weekends ago. The guy driving our car forgot about it until after the 24 hours were up due to a 4 day hangover. He rang them, explained, got the fine reimbursed no questions asked.

I mean they could have put in Toll Barriers so idiots such as yourself don't get caught out, but having seen the Toll Barriers on the M6 Toll in rush hour, I think they've gone the right way.

Happens first time. After that it's 60 quid.

There's all sorts of problems tho, like if they get your make / model of car wrong there's no way to avoid the fine etc.

TBH, it shouldn't have been made with private profit in mind.

It's not really a fine is it though, if someone does it more than once. More of an idiot tax at that stage.

Also a bit pointless what it would be like without the private investment part, as without that, it wouldn't have been built.

I take the idiot tax point. They seem to have got their act together better (tho like Dartford there are still big problems).

But the idea that it couldn't have been built without private money is shite.

Lol some out dated schizzle about putting it in the local paper and the london gazzette. I mean how relevant.
Very. If our beauracrats don't follow the beauracracy, then who will?

I hope they get pummelled.

Sure but the beaurocracy needs to be relevant and move with the times.
Posting proper notice of new tolls is relevant. As is proper signage (which they didn't have until after it went to court).

Feels like a fine-generating scam to me. Its literally trivial to set up a system to lodge a card and debit for every journey using ANPR, which would fix almost all the late fees. You can buy the tech off the shelf. Who actually gets these fines? Because if its the bridge owners that is fucked up.

Why is the london gazzette relevant. And lots of ppl dont read papers these days so other places like local tv stations would be more appropriate tbh.

I see McDonalds staff are on strike over those zero hour contracts that they apparently were all desperate for because it fit their lifestyle. I heard the collective scream of anguish from every chav in the country at tea time all the way across the Irish Sea.

Why would you want a zero hour contract? Isn't the idea of a job to make money?
