Pretty sure this is better served in the Things that Annoy you thread, but anyone remember Count Dankula? The Socttish bloke who got arrested for teaching his pug to do Hitler Salutes?

Trial was today - found guilty, bailed for 30 days - says he is likely to be on house arrest/wear a tag.

Source - his Twitter.

We really don't have free speech in this country do we?

Never have. Not that half the people around here will agree with you.

They'll say stuff like "we DO have free speech, apart from this stuff..., but other than that stuff, yep, definitely free"...

He should have said he was Jewish.
They NEVER would have gone there with that.

So the woman monitoring the Uber driverless car that killed a pedestrian was a convicted armed robber..and was a man when she was convicted, but now identifies as a woman.
Makes rather uncomfortable reading for Uber.

The "used to be a man" bit made uncomfortable reading for *you*, you mean. Of what relevance is that to the situation?

I was waiting for a diversity champion to stick their flag in that one.

Not the hill I'd choose to die on.
I was looking to see if as usual there was more to it..but no, they are doing him for that single video, citing the repitition of gas the jews as justification for it being hate crime.
This is an epic low for justice at a time when freedom of speech is so under attack.
They have made a mockery of themselves and handed the right another moral victory.

Oh noes you got me! Are you going to have a pop at explaining why the fact that he/she/whatever used to be a he/she/whatever is pertinent, though?

But really what has the persons sex or sexual persuasion got to do with it.
Nothing...does it have an effect in the wide world..yes, it makes the person seem a bit more deviant to a large section of the population, who may not be able to express those feelings, but will certainly alter their views on Uber.
I know you like to confuse idealism with reality and use it as tool to judge, but you must be reminded at all times that it is an artificial creation, no matter how nice it is.
It's just false tits.
I 'll ignore the fact you actually meant gender.

I did wonder why Caitlyn Jenner hadn't been on telly recently.

You mean the segment of the population who share your Neanderthal views? You really are a caricature.

It's noticeable isn't it, i rarely see insects during summertime, especially wasps, bee's and the like. Never any mosquitoes. I remember from my youth when you'd get harassed hourly by wasps during summertime. But now, never.
You notice it everwhere tbh. Notwithstanding recalling the fact that if you drove at night the front of your car would resemble a slaughterhouse within five minutes (which anyone who grew up in the 70's remembers).

When I was young I used to go camping on a field perched on a cliff overlooking the sea for a week every year. My mum loved it and she ended up having a static caravan nearby where she could drink her sorrows into oblivion whilst her sons had somewhere safe to play outside. Spring/Summer the field was mostly white and yellow with daisies and buttercups (and a smattering of wilder plants). You could lie down on it and the curve of the field was such that you'd see all the "traffic" - it'd resemble a really busy scene from a science fiction film - thousands upon thousands of airborne vehicles going about their business, visiting each flower, sometimes several insects at a time. Incredibly crowded as far as you could see (and you could see a couple of hundred feet before the blue sky happened at the cliff).

Went back a few years ago. Lay down. Not a single insect. Not one.

I cant say I miss them..less food for spiders as well.
Complete result.
Thinking on I havent seen a single spider in our house for years.
I cant remember the last time I saw one anywhere.
Anyway its all very temporary, nature doesnt like a vacuum.
As long as its not flying spiders...

Trying to explain to my ex how cultural appropriation claim is detrimental to humanity. It's how we have done for forever, trading, sharing our way of life, music, clothes, food, etc etc (never mind colonialism, wars, etc..). Sure, the ground zero for the debate, indian-cowboy costumes, yeah, I'd understand if the native-American community would object to it, but that's what everything stems from, in my opinion, and now people are jumping onto the bandwagon just to have something to argue about, which isn't theirs to argue about.

There are loads of people who love to get offended on other peoples behalf.

Think they make a career out of looking who could possibly be offended by something.

Its fine to be offended. Just dont expect everyone to go out of their way to not offend you.

Personally, I think there's way more people that are offended at people being offended than there are people who are offended/offended on behalf of somebody. Offended.
