Just watched the first episode of American Gods. Really enjoyed it. That first Viking scene wouldn't look out of place on Game of Thrones.

Anyone watched House of Cards season 4? Thought season 3 generally sucked and kinda put me off returning to it.

What's it actually about? I keep hearing about it but I've never looked into it.

Supernatural stuff exists because humans believe in them. It's a bit muddled but you've got Old Gods (Norse, Greek), new Gods (technology, drugs), CGI magical creatures and monsters, and humans stuck in the middle as usual. And everyone is trying to fuck and fuck-over everyone else.

Visually it's very entertaining. Just don't think too deeply about it and give it a go.

Oh, and beware of women who you meet for a drink who very quickly want to pork you.

Blackpool is the pits. Although it is fucking hilarious watching idiots hanging out of car windows driving down the front taking pics of the lights with a flash. One of the most depressing seaside locations I've been to

It's also expensive as fuck (or was the last time I went over a decade ago)

Yeah, agreed. We used to go to the Ship Inn near Lytham for food, cheaper and better plus no chavs.

Blackpool jas a kick ass fair and the tallest roller coaster in the UK.
It is full of chavs from all over the North...some are borderline deliverance pikeys, but you can have a laugh from safe distance..took my posh mates and girfriends there from London...they just stood there open mouthed..one girl , Pippa no less, was in tears.
We were stoid in a dive bar , about 6 lads and girls dancing around, all quite small, ravers.
This fucking huge, 20 stone, brain dead body builder comes in and starts grabbing the girls asses in full view, a scuffle breaks out, he rips off his Worlds Gym tshirt and starts swinging punches, one lad jumps on a chair and knocks him out cold with a champagne bottle.
The bouncers dragged him out into the street and left him in the gutter...no one went to help him...the party carried on.
Fucking weird place.

Used to go a lot when I was a student (one of my mates was from there) but it must be at least 20 years since I've been. Aren't pretty much all English seaside "tourist" towns fucking awful though? I'm really struggling to think of one I actually like.

I remember enjoying Weymouth, the couple of times I went there when I were a lad.

There are lots of nice bits of coast, none of which have resort towns on.

I enjoyed lots of seaside towns when I was a kid; I was actually born in Weymouth, I used to go to Rhyl and Llandudno all the time when I was small, my parents lived a couple of miles from Cleethorpes when I was a teenager, I worked in Skegness a couple of summers, but looking around them now...miserable as fuck.

Whitby is a nice place.

Probably because it managed to avoid the obvious tourist tat that afflicts most other seaside towns; apart from all the Dracula stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty of lovely fishing villages and little market towns etc. but the obvious "seaside resort" towns, just depress the hell out of me.

I live in a seaside town, but its not a resort because theres no direct access to the beach.
And the car parks are a fortune..all National trust...keeps the chavs away though.

They run in circles, both claiming desperately that it's the other one stalking them.

I go to Bournemouth quite a bit for gigs, and days at the beach. Went to Blackpool on a stag do about 10 yrs ago, it was depressing. We had been there no more then 2 hours and went on the big rollercoaster and a group of locals starting kicking off and taking the piss because we were southerners. It's like it stuck in the late 70's, an absolute shithole
